Kfc And Wendy's Opened Today

That video was filmed in the village 31 of Retiro, that an illegal settlement of undocumented foreigners.

Ah so similar to a substantial number of Ex-Pats on here if the postings are to be believed! With dodgy documentation then :D

Villa 31 is "illegal"? Nope FYI there is a quiet but informed effort to substantiate and secure the tenure of Villa 31 inhabitants many of whom are second and third generation supported by the University of Buenos Aires School of Architecture and (very quietly) by the Buenos Aires City Government as the only sustainable option to deal with the chronic housing crisis in this city i.e by in situ consolidation. An approach which has had a lot of success elsewhere eg Brazil. That is not to say that Peronist Ks and other quasi-mafias try a bit of posturing and more to stir up trouble from time to time and to vilify Macri. And the enforcement of new land rights is not without it's difficulties as new rentier and development opportunities open up

Villa 31 started at least 70 years ago after the second world war on surplus railway land to house "temporary" Italian migrants. Despite the attempt to "remove" the problem by the Military at the time of the World Cup - and the creation of the dystopic Fort Apache - Villa 31 endures.

Get used to it!

And most of Argentina is populated with "foreigners" - if not first then second or third generation :p

Clearly not, just look at backgrounds.
If so, what then? They're clearly living not inside an invisible bubble, those are people living here in BA/Argentina.

Arrived here 12 years ago or not, all the children around them are part of the situation and sharing the same food intake.
Undocumented or not what difference does it make? Our enlightened Leader wants as many voters citizens to share our Nirvana as politically humanly possible and welcomes any immigration to this land of wealth and riches, the more voting for her rereelection the merrier, No questions asked.

What they have is what there is for a lot of people in their situation, regadless of what is written in their documents or what their living conditions or location is.
Lot's of born and raised argentinos in worse situation and with a future a lot darker.

These people have economic problems, they are without work because of their undocumented status.
Unfortunately the food that is high in fat is usually consumed by poor people because it is inexpensive and produces in the body a sense of satisfaction and satiety. The consumption of the poorest people is unbalanced,.with more carbohydrates, more fat, more sugars and less dense nutritional food.
Is not a real situation throughout Argentina 2013

In the US it is true that fast food is easier for those who are poorer and need to work long hours and many jobs in order to get by.

However, it is NOT true that fast food is inexpensive there or here nor is it less expensive than to eat healthy salads and protein rich foods. The problem of malnutrician is rampant among the very poor here with many people overweight from eating simple carbs because they have no choice, not because they can afford to go to McDonalds.

Not sure if I follow. If the price is pretty much the same, what restricts their choice?

Sorry, i realize I probably wasn't clear (this issue, malnutrition, makes me really upset and sad). What i mean is that the people who are living in the Villas here and in poor areas outside of the city sometimes cannot afford the fast food. So that is not what is making some of them overweight. I do not see putting the blame on fast food restaurants as causing people here to be obese to be correct. The lovely panaderia on our corner, every night there are poor children and families gathered at the back door for the days unsold white bread. It is not as if they can go to the verdularia and do the same thing as the veggies are either sold or chucked because they are rotten (at least in my neighborhood) and it is harder to eat a head of lettuce while pushing your cart. AND the government, (that will only subsidize NFP food banks that enforce their agenda) end up supplying the same types of food - white bread. Sorry if I am ranting on. I am not a staunch supporter of fast food places but I dont think that they are to blame for obesity, lack of education about nutrition and resources to help the needy are.

Thanks for clarifying your point of view. I also think that simply blaming the food companies is a very simplistic view to a very complex problem.
I think education and social development play huge roles on this. educated people "tend" to have a better grasp on the trade offs between satisfying short term desires vs. long term benefits.
Also, like it or not, foods rich in calories and fat are cheaper, which might be a significant driver to lower income folks.

But overall, I am in agreement that it is not just blaming McDs.

Seems very real to me.

"“In Argentina, between 2.5 and 3.0 percent of preschoolers were obese in the 1980s, compared to 10 percent today,” Dr. Esteban Carmuega, with the Centre of Studies on Child Nutrition (CESNI), told IPS. “We lead the statistics in the region.”
The average for South America is 6.8 percent, Carmuega said."

Argentina – Fighting the Worst Child Obesity Rate in the Region
One point is the habits of children, but another very different is poverty, Villa 31 is not many people, does not represent the standard of living in Argentina.
This video is a fake of reality because is a fragmented reality

Hamburgers are a perfectly nutritious and healthy dish, just eat a third of the fries...!! You have a meat patty lettuce, tomatoes, gurkins , onions, etc a square meal anywhere in the world.... For low carbs eat half of the bun or skip the fries altogether ,,!! :D
