My sister is visiting, and interested in buying a good quality but not ridiculously expensive leather handbag. Any suggestions? She is more interested in classic styles... Thanks!

Prune has an outlet in Villa Crespo. Everyone I've sent there has loved it- bags, shoes and jackets of good quality at great prices.

Prune is great for every day but they do fall apart after some wear & tear. Peter Kent have high quality classic leather bags with a twist - love their bags. See their store in Paseo Al Corta, Palermo Viejo etc. More expensive than Prune but worth it!

i second (third?) Prune. Their outlet is good but can be a bit hit and miss (worth trying though). Generally outlet prices are 500-700 for leather and regular store prices 700+ (though it's been so long :( ) I bought a bag from them in 2003 and its still in perfect shape. I got my mum a bag from XL a couple of years ago, and she loves it. I've also been salivating over Escudo Prana bags (I think its a more independent type designer - you can find him on Facebook) - I don't want to think about how much he charges though.
There are some other leather bag outlets along S-ortiz (by the murillo "leather district, but not actually in it), including a couple of decent brands (Blaque, etc). Might be worth checking out too.

Prune in Villa Crespo is the place i get gifts for my three sisters before i visit Scotland . Its probably a good idea to visit a couple of times as the merchandise changes eevery week or so.
