Life in USA vs. Argentina

Peronism is not leftist. It is merely opportunist.

The No True Scotsman Fallacy.

Actually Peronism is a type of leftism. If you classify leftism as government intervention in the economy for the purpose of wealth redistribution, then Peronism is a very hard core form of leftism.
Is it highly opportunistic and dishonest? Sure.
But it is still leftism.

I live in the US, but visit Argentina quite often due to work. I take the US over Argentina as a permanent place to live any day of the week, without thinking twice.
That being said, let's not forget that the US of A is facing some very serious issues right now too.

And so is Brazil.....especially if your a car theif

I'd love to have me about 5 acres in Tandil or "La Sierra de la Ventana" and a typical argentine cabaña type house...fitted with floors of alagarrobo, a quincho, fireplace etc... But that's virtually impossible and my wifes not going to live in the middle of nowehere LOL...

You can have about five acres (For $85K USD) within a 90 minute drive of "La Sierra de la Ventana"and you would not be in the middle of nowhere nor would you pay nearly as much to live here as it does there. I live reasonably close to two cities with a combined population of over 400,000. The property I wrote about in the post below actually touches my property at one point and I would be able to hear your chain saw from my house (when I'm outside).

Anyone who has read my posts knows how much I like living where I do. On Saturday one of my neighbors came to my house and told me that he wanted to sell his property (which I can walk to faster than I can get in my car and drive to).

He has two (adjacent) hectares (20,000 m2) for sale (about five acres total) and there are separate deeds for each hectare. There is a "decent" house with a quincho on one lot and there is a not so nice (and very small) house on the second lot. Except for the area around the "decent" house, the land is covered with brush but it is completely surrounded by tamarisco trees, creating total privacy. There is also an above ground cement pool (4m x 8m) behind the house and a garage/galpon next to the pool.

Everything needs to be "recycled" (as they say here).

There are also several buildings/structures that once housed a lot of hogs but they all need to be demolished. The hogs and their odor are long gone.

The price is $1,000,000 pesos. That's less than $4.25 dollars per square meter for the land (using an exchange rate of 12 to 1) without adding the value of the existing buildings.

Here are several photos of the house and quincho:

Camberiu: Do you know what the phrases in Argentine Spanish ,"derecho de piso" y "derecho de pataleo" mean?

Ohh...now this is very tempting....if I could get my wife to be interested it would great.....but then I'd have to figure out a way to come up with 85K USD!!
