And what about the infamous electricity, gas and water problems almost every forum member seems to have? How does one negate that when living in a house here?

Any personal experiences?

If budget is not an issue, most expensive apartments are in buildings with their own generators.

Problems with water don't affect much people in apartments I believe (?), rather people living in a house in the suburbs with their own pump (I get my water from 60 meters below the ground).

Easier to have your own generator in a house too. My generator can feed my house + my 2 neighbour's houses (for basic appliances + water pump).

As for choosing between both, it's like choosing between an expensive sports car & an expensive 4 wheeler, I'd choose the 4 wheeler for my way of life (and the house too, with 5 dogs + 3 more in the street that I feed).

Easier too to hide porn DVDs and sex toys in a house but I'm getting too personal

I am not really apart of this group but have an idea for you. if you can handle the ongoing work it takes to maintain a house, go for it. its a big and relentless commitment. if not rent for the good months and enjoy.
