Magdalena´s Party restaurant

Hi, Happy New Year everybody. Haven't been posting here much lately :) ,but anyway,

B.A. is after all a conservative city, don't torture yourselves with "this and that" "little new place" or big new place, just go to the tried and true, places that have been in business for at least 20 years and you wont be dissappointed with customer service, on the contrary,

There's no good middle ground either, restaurants are either passable good and expensive, or... better to eat at home

I don't know exactly what it means but I believe the term "enganapichanga" applies to the whole neighborhood off Palermo west of Santa Fe.

The above message was for consumers only! Entrepreneurs, wish you the best of luck, but probably wont dine at any "cute new place", and new means the last 5 years

Enganapichanga are those silly tricks you do to babies to distract them from important things, is a hoax, a simulation.

I agree with you 100 per cent. Restaurants at Palermo have a nice design and nothing else. The service usually sucks, the food normally is average but the prices are high.

While I was a student I was working at a high end law firm and all the meetings were done at restaurants, always new, always fancy. It means that I knew most of the nice resturants after some years (we never lunch twice at the same).

After that, I keept going to the same places for the last 10 years, avoiding new ones, preferring those who survived at least 10 years.

I was at Madgalena at the beggining of Decembers and I regret. The service was a lack of respect, the food old (i got sick) and it wasn t cheap. I didn t tip of course. And I won t come back.

Usually when I just arrive to a rstaurant I tell them nicely and with a fake smile "kid, you know how does it works, right? You salary sucks, you make money with tips, and I only give good tips for outstanding service". It usually works.

Regards

What they have to say ? Are you kidding me ? They most likely forgot about those customers they screwed 2 seconds after they said " Quien carajo se creen que son estos yankis forros"
More power to you if you have the intestinal fortitude to put up with that crap . I for one would pay with wooden niclkles if I got bad service so as to illustrate that bad service doesnt equal good money

owners are American and Canadian

that's pretty awful. I'm sure the majority of the waiters spit on your food.

American and Canadian ?well then shame on them for doing like in Rome

I've waited tables and I would have LOVED IT if I ever had a customer who said that. No spitting, just excellent service. And a nice tip.

People don't wait tables for community service, they do it to make money. And someone offers them a concrete opportunity to make more money than they had planned that night, what's not to like?

I have waited tables before... and always gave great service.. unless you were a prick. Bajo_Cero2.. if you said something like that to me back then... I would give you shit service.

I am pretty sure bajo cero doesn't literally speak that quote to waiters, but convey that message through the fake smile and attitude of honest understanding of what's going on.
Of course I can be wrong...

In Spanish I say it con onda and a nice attitude, like accomplice. I get an outstanding service anywhere I go. I am very clear because many times they have a bad salary, they work like hell and many people leave a 2 pesos tip. When they understand that the tip might means about 20 up to 50 pesos (I don t tip or I tip 20 %), they work hard for that. The places where I usually go, if there is not a table, they get one for me.

Well, I have to admit that I don t say "your salary sucks", sometimes the translations sucks ;). The mistake is to be nasty with them, I am not. I am clear that I am not going to accept a shitty service but I might tip him/her very well if he/she behaves.
I don t understand what a prick is.
