French patisserie is a rip off of the real mcoy in Austria. French PR won the day here. A good medialuna is no one's poor relation. A fresh batch from La Argentina which haven't been soaked in sugary syrup is a treat not to be sniffed at.

If you're ever near NYC, Argentina Bakery in Union City, NJ makes sandwiches de miga, empanadas, medialunas, alfajores de maicena and a lot of other Argentine baked goods. Just take the number 51 jitney bus from port authority (about a 10 minute bus ride) to intersection of JFK boulevard and 16th street and walk a few blocks over to Bergenline Avenue.
 
Are you serious? You want those horrible, flavorless rock like things made in bakeries where the owners have never heard the word "butter"? Where every ingredient is the cheapest and lowest quality possible? Give me a break.
 
Starbucks produce some of the finest sweet hot and cold UHT milk beverages in the world. They do a hot milk which has a mild aroma of coffee and a hot black water drink with hints of cheap coffee.

No peets here, but there is a small but growing band of decent cofffee places.

Anyone in microcentro should pass by Cafetero de Barrio on the ground floor of the Galeria Thompson. Best coffee in the microcentro by a stretch. Small place, but worth it.

He is selling (or was) aeropresses which I recently tried, great little device. Ridiculously over priced unfortunately.

I imagine that there are even bad croissants in cheap cafes in France as well as good ones.
And crappy confiterías that that make awful media lunas as well as others that specialize in them. Personally I prefer croissants, but I wouldn't
compare them to media lunas since they're not the same thing. Let's agree that people from different regions of the world have different tastes, and that you can always find a good and bad version of any specialized food in every country.
