Men's Field Hockey? Who knew?

Ice hockey is a big commercialised sport in Canada / USA / Scandinavian countries / Russia / Baltic states.

Field hockey is not a big commercialised sport anywhere but lots and lots of schools play some form of hockey at school.

And if the leonas win they wont fill plaza de mayo like would happen in Stockholm, Helsinki, Moskow, Prague, Ottawa, Bratislava and probally some other cities as well with a gold medal for the male icehockey team

Sorry, I thought you meant 2 golds in these games, not two in total. I hope las leonas take out the gold too, I love watching their coach cry like a baby whenever they taste success.

yup, They actually play a mixed game annually too.

Hurling is much more popular than shinty though.

In primary school us boys for games sessions played shinty as well as football and cricket. This was in south London and taught by Dep. Head who was Welsh! Work that out!

Field Hockey injuries are no fun. My brother in England is county coach standard and just had his jaw reconstructed as a result of a non-deliberate field hockey "incident".

"A lovely drag flick goes directly into the defenders ribs. He got up and played on after though; this isn't football!"

There is a reason why goalie's wear all that stuff and now outfielders are wearing masks as well for short corners.

I know this thread is about MENs Hockey but congrats to Las Leonas - awesome victory there was no way around them. Netherlands looked wobbly against Kiwis and only got through via this last gasp but totally thrilling "penalty playoff" I think there will be one gold coming down this way!!
