MercadoLibre account DNI

IDENTITY VALIDATION WITH DNI FOR PURCHASES WITH MERCADO LIBRE
I've been using MercadoLibre for several years before I had a local bank account. In those days, I had to make a cash payment for my purchases at RapiPago. That was how I bought a water heater and refrigerator. When I opened a Banco Ciudad account with a debit card, the process became easier.
A month ago the process of buying came to a halt. All of a sudden I was being asked to confirm that I was the person who I claimed to be making the purchase. This required using the camera on my notebook to take a photo that would be compared with the photo on my DNI in 2013. I wrote ML for assistance and got the same information for a process that didn't work. Do you suppose that the fact that my hair is brown in my DNI photo is why I'm unable to prove my identity with white hair? I've tried everything. I even sent copies of all the official government photo IDs with my name to confirm I am who I claim I am. No luck. The Central Bank doesn't recognize me today as the same person on the 2013 DNI.
My only option may be going back to paying cash with MercagoPago for purchases on MercadoLibre. I have been trying for weeks to buy tango albums for a friend who arrives next month that he wants to use at his local milonga.

Every week for almost three years I have placed an online order for organic food using my DNI and debit card that is processed through MercadoPago. The payment is always accepted. My identity has never required validation.

Suddenly, after many purchases, ML wants me to validate my identity. My name is not common in Argentina, so why doesn't the system believe me? They asked me to take a photo of myself holding my DNI in front of me. I did so and sent all my photo IDs for examination. No luck. I have to laugh after being here for almost 24 years. This is Argentina.

It's something that alas happens everywhere not just in Argentina. Had my Spanish bank account blocked recently and proving my identity is taking ages. Same thing happened with my instagram and they had me send them a photo holding a paper with a code.

If you suspect there is something wrong with the DNI then have it changed, it's easy and it takes just 2-3 days with the express service -- it's cheap. But your hair color should not be the issue.

I even resorted to wearing a dark wig while using my tablet to take my photo! Failed every time.

I finally figured out the mystery while playing around with a new purchase. When I wanted to use a credit to my account from MercadoPago, that activated the identity validation requirement. A seller changed her mind about selling an item I wanted to buy so my refund was directed to my account with MercadoPago on the Mercado Libre site.
