Moneygram

Take note, MoneyGram will give you a much worse rate (official, about 940 today I think) and take a flat fee on top.
Whereas WU usually gives 1220(?) pesos per dollar (close to blue rate) and if there is any flat fee at all, it's smaller.

...So if you can wait for WU to return to service, I would strongly recommend doing so. Or just send small amount via MoneyGram for now.

WU charges people from the US 5% or more for transfers under US1500. That's much more than MoneyGram's flat 2 dollar fee. And if you transfer to Mercado Pago or another wallet, you get a better rate and there is no fee at all.

Why do you say MG is close to the official?
MG has been zero fee for the past 6+ months when sending to a virtual wallet CVU or cash pickup. Today 1241.36. It has been similar to WU after considering their high % fee

You could be doing a bit better than that. More like 1290 per dollar

Western Union as well as Moneygram have requested a Code verification sent to the email..?? First time ever . Any experiences.?

That's not what MoneyGram's website showed me. I got quoted the official rate.

That is very surprising. I have used every 4-6 weeks for the 6+ months. Less often for the year before that. Never the official rate. Never asked for more than $500. Always given zero fee which made the total exchange rate very similar to WU even when I ask WU customer service for a 50% promo. Always a VPN to a US server.

I used Moneygram to transfer money from my Bank of America account in the US to my Santander account in Buenos Aires . The transfer is done within 30 or so minutes. And the fee (I transfer using my debit card) is about 2 percent of the amount transferred. Way cheaper and faster than Western Union

It may depend on your nationality or where you currently reside. I am neither from the USA nor other "privileged" nations.
But yes, I did explicitly check the MG rate against WU before I replied to the OP. So it is clearly not the same for everyone.

P.S. Having re-checked rates again now, I am seeing 1214 on MG, and WU's rate is still better @ 1289. One of the things that affects WU's final rate hugely is whether you send to bank account or to a branch for cash pickup; I am not sure if the same applies to MG.
