Movistar Charges

That's weird, but I never am able to display such balance. I can only display the credits I have.

That's not a real balance, thats 30 seconds of adding some numbers together in excel.

I'm pretty sure personal only shows what I put in the "Saldo" column when you check. Even so, you need to keep in mind that that saldo is composed of different types of credit. Which is what I was trying to illustrate with the table.

How to check the daily balance?
Dial *150# from the dial pad (like you are making a phone call) and your current balance, minutes, and active text and call packs and expirations will display on a new window popup. It's free to use this method to check your balance on Personal. Only thing missing from this display is internet pack and expiration, unfortunately. You have to visit Mi Cuenta page.

I've sent several tramites to Movistar online to delete all my subscriptions (they say they've been deleted) but as soon as I put 50 pesos it is gone in a few hours - with the phone sitting totally idle.

Thanks to a suggestion at the coffee chat, I'm going in to a big Movistar office. I guess the closest one to me is Alto Palermo - I'm near the zoo.

I am going to use the opportunity to vent some pent up anger - any suggestions on how to be a major nuisance?

Say you're going to report them to the Camporistas.

Once again I had credits disappearing (personal prepaid).
Didn't use my phone since the 25th:
25/08 = 21.10$
26/08 = 8.59$
28/08 = -3.90$

I asked on Personal FB page:
Estoy harto de los creditos que desaparecen. El 25/08 yo tenia un saldo de 21.10$, el 26/08 bajo a 8.59$ y hoy 28/08 paso a -3.90$. No hize una llamada, no mande SMS, no tengo ninguna suscripcion. Como explicas eso? (no es la primera vez, es siempre asi). Gracias

They answered (in 3 hours, good):

I had noticed those message from 113311 but I never susbcribed to that silly service & on the Personal website, when trying to cancel "subscripciones", the site would answer "you have no active subscripcion".

That's really amazing. I wonder how much they make that way.
Check your balance daily

We've noticed the same thing. My sisters-in-law swear that they never subscribe to any of these damned subscriptions but they popup all the time. They've done exactly what you mention, checking their accounts all the time and having to get rid of them. It's blatant thievery is what it is - they just seem to show up out of the blue and I believe my girls. They know not to send an SMS even if it says it's "free". I don't know why I haven't had any of them, but I don't really use my phone very much anyway (can't even get a signal in my office about 80% of the time). We have a land line for important calls.

But our cell phone bills are often outrageous and overblown and they sometimes give us credits but more often than not insist they are valid charges (obviously we've missed some of these little money viruses here and there - it's actually difficult to be vigilant every day). We've all been so damned busy lately that we haven't investigated moving to another company yet, but I've been thinking about looking into it. I notice the thread title was about Movistar, and I see Frenchie talking about Personal. I wonder if there is any good carrier to use?

Ah, to live in a place where 'Verizon' and 'AT&T' aren't the rudest swear words in existence.

I think the trick is to ditch the prepaid SIM card which seems to be the same with all the companies.

I just checked my account (Personal). I never have had any of these subscriptions everyone complains about.

I use my phone non stop and the only time there any real variations in my facturss are when I use my phone in other countries

I have already revealed in another post that personal accepted of removing at least 500 pesos of my prepaid balance in last 3 months. I decided to abandon prepaid and go for post paid.

Taken personal Black plan costing 340 pesos a month. But with a heavy discount for 1 year on the plan in lieu of their acknowledgement of the theft of my money.
