Hi my name is Corey my business partner and myself moved down to Buenos Aries to excape the US and brew craft beer, Cervezaria Cima De La Montaña. As we can´t stand the yellow piss water they pass off as beer here. If you have any questions or want to have a good beer let me know. Cheers!

So were can we buy this wonderful stuff ???
I'd like to give it a try.
I'm a Quilmes guy, drink lots of it in the summer. :)

Personally, I feel your remarks about the beer in Argentina to not be in line with being a good citizen here at all. You may not like the beer is fine. You are trying to start a new business. Why would you say negative things about your competition? It certainly is not good business practice at all. Wake up - Smell the Roses. Perhaps you can prosper. With your attitude it might never happen. Merry Christmas!

There's actually quite a few good microbreweries around the country. Trying to find/get their beer in BA is another problem altogether!..... :D

Whenever i'm staying somewhere i always try and pop into the local brewery. They're usually very welcoming and its a good opportunity to get some tasters!

After a few successful ginger beer brews I'm going to try and find the ingredients to try and make an ale or two next year! (although i said that last year!)

I'm guessing that you know about these guys: http://minicerveceria.com/home.asp

But if you don't, you might want to look to them for supplies. However, unless you are smuggling your own yeast in from the US, you're not going to be able to make much of a beer here.

Good luck!

Argentines love beer. This is not a secret. Beer is one of the most popular alcoholic beverages in country, only second to red wine. Fortunately the years have brought a bit of know-how and sophistication to the brewing industry in Argentina. Long gone are the days when Quilmes was one of the only 3 selections to be found.
Today, artisanal beers are everywhere. From major supermarkets, gourmet shops to Irish pubs and specialty stores. Below are our Top 5 Artisanal Argentine beers.
Buller Brewing Company
Micro-brewery and gastro pub located in Recoleta right across from the entrance to the cemetery, Buller was one of the first to hit the scene in a big way. They definitely did the most in restoring beer´s long lost coolness factor in BA. Today, after over a decade in the business, they are a local classic for artisanal beer.
Bar El Federal
Founded in 1864, El Federal has been making artisanal beer longer than anyone else on our list. Located in the traditional neighborhood of Monserrat, El Federal is a classic worth visiting, not only for the beer, but for their classic Porteño ambiance. Swing by their joint at Carlos Calvo 599.

Hey all, I'm Corey's associate and I'm back in BA after 7 long years. I've been lurking on this forum for months and I think we can all agree that Quilmes/Brahma doesn't cut it here for us expats. We have a delicious beer brewed with none other than dulce de leche and a stronger, more tasty Quilmes like beer with a little bit of mate in it. We would love to get the word out and a tasting is definitely in order. Do you know of a place we could host it at? A lot has changed here in the last 7 years and my Spanish is pretty rusty these days.

you might see if there will be any more underground markets-

I am not sure if they will resume these after the new year, but I would guess yes.
There are several other small brewers there, which is both good and bad- beer lovers know to go there, and argentines like the idea of similar businesses being clustered, but, of course, there is competition.

if you want to do a tasting all your own, there are many possibilities. tons of restaurants would probably do a special night.
depends on the crowd you want- art galleries are another possibility- something like slyzmud might be good- small, classy gallery, they serve beer and wine at their openings anyway, draw a hip, but classy crowd-

or, maybe Foster Catena in Palermo Soho, right in the thick of things-

if you want to do something totally from scratch, hire Ideal Confiteria for a night, get a DJ, - amazing place, hosts hip private events. http://www.confiteriaideal.com/

really, it depends on your whim- there are dozens of event spaces, from funky to elegant, that you can do a deal with, or rent space from.

So i discovered http://www.pintapoint.com/ in my bario.

Has a selection of beers from around the world as well as 8-9 on tap for you to take home. Will report back after i've tried them. :D
