New Immigration Decree, Long Life To King Macri!

Clarification: if the foreigner is considered an enemy, then the DNM is a counterpart. Not white race foreigner = enemy = Carl Smidtt = Perón Constitution copied from the 3rd Reich = Nazi = Hitler = EjLarson trolling with the "whatever" syndrome.

Thanks for the clarification. I was about to fall asleep from boredom, but being included in bajo's mandatory Hitler reference (he's not allowed to post unless he invokes Adolf at least once a day), that's real status! I'm a little disappointed, though, that he wasn't able to weave some mention of my support for North Korea in there too.

Try a little harder, bajo. You can do it.

As i was leaving Ezeia airport today like any day ( frequent traveler) on my Argie passport. Despite that, lot of questioning by police to me cos of my skin color.

Brown skin guys - be prepared mentally when passing thru Ezeiza now

Perhaps you could be more explicit? Which police? Or are you referring to immigration officials?
What kind of questions were they asking you and at what stage of your entry did this take place?

So, just to be clear, it is now no longer be sufficient to be granted citizenship if you:
- Stayed in the country for 2+ years
- Have not committed any crime during those periods

You must now also have residency of some kind?

Thanks in advance.

Flashback - My last trip 1 week or so ago - the immigration official looked in a v funny way at my DNI - she seemed to be scorning at it. And asked why the heck was I traveling to Brazil. I did not pay much attention to this but answered her.

Today - The security guys who stand near the the conveyor belt for security check and pat your body even if you dont beep. My hand baggage was v basic - no liquids or sharp objects etc. So this security guy asked me, where I was going. I told him where ( it was not USA or Europe) . So then he asked his colleague ( a girl) to check my passport. The girl saw that I had a local passport. Then she started flipping thru it and said - why you travel so much. I told her for work and described my work in very fluent Spanish. She did not seem very satisfied with my absolutely clear answer and started shaking her head. Then she took my passport somewhere and then came back after some time.."Ok you can go" in Spanish.

Well - yeah..nothing MAJOR happened but its a sign of what awaits in the near future. Of course, if one has done nothing wrong, one need not feel anxious but it does not feel very nice - when you are singled out from a long line in your "own" country, cos of yr skin color and despite the fact you hold a local document.

These two - were first time in 5 years since I became a local and loads of travel.

Anyways, just sharing my experience basis what the forum is meant for - sharing local experiences. No sarcasm please!

You must now also have residency of some kind?

At least that is what the new immigration decree (Decreto 70/2017) says:

"Que, también como consecuencia de los controles precedentemente mencionados, se ha ad-
vertido otra modalidad de fraude a la Ley Migratoria que hace indispensable modificar la Ley

N° 346 de Ciudadanía, a fin de precisar que es requisito tener residencia permanente o tempo-
raria de forma continua en los DOS (2) años anteriores, a los efectos del cómputo del arraigo

necesario para acceder a la nacionalidad por naturalización."

So it basically says that two continuous years of permanent or temporary residency are required. So not even the "precaria" residency would qualify.

There have been reports of Venezuela passports being sold to terrorists, so I think they won't judge from the cover of your passport rather than on your appearance, stamps/traveling behaviors and gut feeling. It is not democratic and I am sorry it made you uncomfortable.

I am not at all calm about the forthcoming travel I'll have to make this year and I'd gladly skip it.

So let me get this straight, we are going thru a check point and we get surprised we are asked questions related to our traveling habits?
The whole paranoia about skin color is very valid but hard to prove , as a white straight man i didn't get the same treatment or i should say the same friendly treatment at the DMV counter in California when the clerk was either black or latino/a......... I think it would be ok to relax and expect to be questioned at check points, after all, that's why they are there........ this is very typical of Argentina, things have been done wrong for such a long time, that when they actually try to do what they are there to do , we get all paranoid, surprised and pissy....... i'm just glad i can still flirt with the female officers around here and not fear a lawsuit ;)
