Ordering stuff from abroad

Somewhat related: friends have sent me a small gift using Correo Argentino, and today I have received a notification that I needed to go to the epago site to pay duties, before going to pick it up at Avenida Antartida. To do that first I needed to create an account. Problem is that when creating the account I am always getting a very generic "Error General" error. The lady at the counter told me to create it again with another email, which I did with the same result, so when I asked her what to do next she simply and rudely said to open a "reclamo" (attention to the client = 0)
I tried to tinker a bit with the required information (e.g. putting CUIT instead of CUIL), but without much success.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
If yes, how did you solve it?
I got a hold of them relatively easily via this form https://www.correoargentino.com.ar/atencion-al-cliente/contacto but I'd wait until the 6th to message them. Like so many websites and government run portals here it being broken doesn't surprise me.

Thanks!
I have already done it. My problem is that I am going to be out of Argentina for the entire month of January, but I have until the 25th of that month to claim the packet. So basically if I don't hear from them in the next two days it is pretty much as good as gone...

You can delegate someone to do it, I've had my husband pickup stuff for me previously while I was at work, but you'll need access to the account to do so, so that's the first step

I ordered some things using Amazon on Dec 3rd. 3 items totaling less than $400. One item a book, which has arrived. I am curious to see how all the fees are rebated to me. I will report.

Yup, USPS ---> Correo Argentina, and unfortunately not, the only way to save on outrageous courier fees and brokerage would be using a company like Aerobox; you'd get it delivered in the US to their warehouse in Miami USPS, and then they bring it here, no Correo Argentina.

And sure: https://tn.com.ar/economia/2024/12/...-elimina-impuestos-y-amplia-montos-por-envio/

It's important to remember that you will still pay VAT for items worth less than $400 USD, you just won't pay the duty anymore.
Thanks for the response, and the link. It's not that I'm completely lazy, more that I know that there are others who follow this issue closer and/or are able to parse all this faster than I could being a foreigner whose native language isn't Spanish and hasn't been here long enough to navigate, or even understand the bureaucracy and how it functions (or not). Also appreciate your summary on the 'Amazon coming to ARG' thread from a few months ago that I discovered.

I found some other info online backing this all up. Subscribed to this YouTube channel hoping she follows up on her statement to keep updated and post a video when the puerta a puerta system changes.

Jumping through some other research hoops on my specific situation. Found out that if something you want shipped is on a dangerous goods/restricted list but says it can be shipped with approval, the approval means that you won't be able to have it shipped (with DHL, anyway) unless you use a DHL business account - "we can only ship those types of items with a DHL business account, also we are only able to get this to Argentina only if this goes from a business to a business."

Yesterday I tried again but failed to create the account on the ePago site, so I decided (what the heck) to go again to Correo Argentino and play the "I am a foreigner" card. The same rude lady attended me and this time accepted that I did not need turno to pick up my package, but then she said that the package was not there yet! So why they notified me? Really bad customer service, to say the least. My problem is that I have until January 25th to pick the package, but I won't be back until February. I'll try to delegate someone.

Ordered some stuff online from overseas, value < USD 300. Correo Argentino got their hands on it once the parcel arrived in Argentina, sent a notification that they wanted a sworn declaration of the contents and their value. 100k Pesos tax due. Seems like nothing has changed for importing stuff, no annual limit, no tax-free amount, nothing.

Via the Puerta a Puerta regime, correct, nothing has changed yet.

Via the courier regime, it's been updated, and I have an inbound FOB for next week and will confirm for folks the totals I pay.

puerta a puerta tax free limit is 50 USD, and that includes the cost of postage. (aliexpress for example comes in via correo argentina and this regime)
