Phone plans, insurance, and dentists

I have a Movistar, paying 200 pesos p/m free calls on movistar network, 200 minutes free, for other networks, plus useless Internet included. Worth less I would say...

Plans will be changing all the time.... here are the up to date details:

I spent 400 pesos on teeth cleaning a couple of months ago. The office has at least so Engish speaking dentists (the Pellmans, father and son) but I haven't seen such a cheap price as 280! My OSDE gave me a rebate when I brought the receipt but they only gve you up to 100 pesos per service. Lucha do share where the cheap cleaner is! The Pellmans are in Palermo but near Barrio Norte.

the pelcman's are known to be the most expensive dentists in town!

i am trying to investigate dentist, Dra Vanesa Davisdson!

all cellphone plans look v similar and suck.

I guess pre-paid rocks then!

Actually the one distinguishing factor for me is the fact that personal lets me call the US and the rest of America for no extra charge....that said, it still sucks! On the other hand, pre paid is sucks about 10000x worse than any postpago from any company.

2) You can either sign up for a hospital (Aleman, Italiano, etc) or go with one of the private plans. Hospital plans are cheaper but you are tied to that hospital. For private plans, OSDE is probably the best but most expensive. Swiss Medical is another well known plan. Medicus has a very inexpensive plan if you sign up for the expat discount. You can sign up for any of them on a tourist visa. I assume you do realize that in the event of a serious medical emergency, you can be treated at a public hospital for free?
2a) No idea on your possesions - I think you would need to keep your travel insurance for that. I would evaluate if it's worth it or would be cheaper just to replace the things if something happens.

Hi there, great info.

Does anybody also know if kids are free in Argentina in a private medical plan?

My recommedation is fill up your phone when they're having "2 for 1" promotions (ie, get a 30 peso card and you'll get 60 pesos worth of credit).

My experience with the 2 for 1 and also 3 for 1 is that the extra credit is only good for calls to phones on the same network. I have not been able to use the extra credit to make calls to other mobile carriers, land lines or to pay for the Internet per day service. Also the extra credit seems to expire after a shorter period of time than the regular credit (15 days vs. 30 ...).
