Potentially last item on bucket list

That's an interesting list, I will check out those destinations. If you make it to Faro, go an hour west to Lagos, it's amazing. I, too have a keen interest in Inca and other pre-Colombian cultures, I've even spent time at archeological excavations.
Would love to hear some recommendations on the Inca side!

I guess this isn’t a recommendation as such, since after living and working for almost a year in Lima, I wouldn’t like to go back. For sure, I had a good contract, lived in the Miraflores bubble, but having had Peruvians daily trying to cheat me, lying to me, and trying to scam me, I’ll pass. Maybe you’d want to classify it as cholo rather than Inca culture, but it’s nasty.

If you want to live in Peru (and, certainly, it’s cheap and the food is good), maybe consider the very north around Tumbes. I haven’t been there myself but friends have, and say it’s very nice.

Or go further north, the coast of Ecuador is very nice, definitely not Inca culture (most people are black, just as on the coasts of Colombia and Venezuela). Ecuador is a bit off limits for the moment due to the narco trafficking, but I hope it will recover. Ecuadorean cuisine has to be one of the most underrated around, and there are unexpected variations, for example in Manabí. And if you make it that far, the Chocó area of Colombia is supposed to be spectacular.

Maybe a road trip can be a bucket-list item?

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm 82, in very good health but, my road-trip days are in my rear view mirror.

Peru has so much beautiful towns that have nothing at all to do with Lima . I highly recommend Arequipa for its beautiful atmosphere superb food and respectful inhabitants . Other small cities worth mentioning are Tarapoto . Huancayo . Iquitos all very charming in their own way .

If you prefer not to wander off too far, I loved Bariloche and Ushuaia. My favorite cities abroad are Amsterdam and nearby Utrecht, as well as Prague. Wherever you decide to go, I wish you a marvelous adventure.

In my case, "potentially" (the most appropriate word that appears in the title), the "last" item on my bucket list is to live at least two months longer than my dad, who died on October 29th. 1999, exactly 60 days before his 85th birthday.

My 75th birthday will be on May 29, 2025, exactly 60 days from today. With continuing perservance, sufficient exercise, and eating the "proper human diet" as defined by medical doctors and nutricionists who have inspired me to "follow" their advice, I might make it to birthday number 85.

I will undoubtedly need enough luck not to die in an accident, as well as survive the long term effects of the (in my case) naturally acquired spike protien and/or the effects of next plandemic), perhaps I will still be alive on birthday 85.
