This is actually pretty simple once somebody actually explains it to you, it just seems difficult because we don´t have as many numbers in ours back home. I´m gonna use the example of 5771-2345 cell phone number.
In order to receive international phone calls people must dial
011-54-9-11-5771-2345 or +54-9-11-5771-2345
what do all these numbers mean?
well
011 and/or (+) are basically the same thing, its the code for dialing out to make and international phone call its like the (1) you use in the states for long distance or the (001) when your dialing to the US from here. The difference between (011) and (+) is that you can only dial (+) from a cell phone and (011) from both a cell phone and a land-line.
54 is the country code for Argentina
9 is code for CELL PHONES ONLY
11 is the area code for Buenos Aires. It has to be 11 not 15!!! 15 is like a substitute to be used only locally!!! It is bizarre, I have no idea why, and I have chosen not drive myself crazy trying to understand it, it simply just IS.
and finally the last 8 digits
5771-2345 are your phone number.
Now Lets recap people:
011-54-9-11-5771-2345
can be used when your friends are dialing out to you from either a cell phone or a land line.
+54-9-11-5771-2345
can be used when your friends are dialing out to you from ONLY a cell phone
if your number is a land line, lets say 8888-9999
011-54-11-8888-9999
can be used when your friends are dialing out to you from either a cell phone or a land line.
+54-11-8888-9999
can be used when your friends are dialing out to you from ONLY a cell phone.
I hope this was helpful and that I have cleared up some of your doubts!!
