We plan on moving from the United States to Argentina in two weeks. My wifey loves her Vertuo Nespresso machine and so we were wondering if we should bring it or buy a new one down there. She paid about $200 here, are they crazy expensive down there? If we do bring it, I found a transformer on amazon that can transform the 1350 watts need, but i don't think it will convert the 60 to 50 Hz. Is that a problem? Its also costs over $100.

Thanks for the help.

I think you should check here to weigh your options: https://listado.mercadolibre.com.ar/nespresso#D[A:nespresso]

Additionally, transformers are cheaper here. Sounds link you need one that can handle maybe 12 amps. the Hz won't impact a simple motor or heating elements like this, but more along the lines of something heavily motor-dependent, like a circular saw.

I think the coffee machine, in the end, will be of the smallest of issues after a short while in Arg territory. Suerte!

There is a beautiful Nespresso shop on Quintana in Recoleta. I don't know that they have the model you use. Not sure. I have only seen the standard capsules. I prefer not to use transformers. They seem to heat up. Why not just buy a new model in Argentina?

Check if your Nespresso is both 110/220 Volts compatible, some appliances are ? (Should be written on the back plate). A Transformer runs like $50 on ML , also cheaper.
The frequency rating 60/50 Hz is not crucial. The power is not a key issue a toaster or space heater consume 2000 watts.
The Quintana Street Nespresso shop has all you may need. Not cheap.

Depending on exchange rate it might be the same pri e or cheaper than USA. Right now the exchange rate is in the dumps. Give it a few months.

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, I may buy one in Santiago that is already at 220v and then bring it across. I have heard that imports to Argentina can be pretty terrible because of tariffs.

I'm glad to hear the 50/60 Hz thing doesn't matter.

An update for the few in the same situation. While in Santiago we bought the wife her fancy Nespresso machine at the mall and it was surprisingly the same price or a few bucks cheaper. I was surprised.

And like you have all said, of course it works just fine in Argentina. In fact, some of the outlets in this house fit both Argentine and Chilean type sockets.

Very easy and reasonably priced in Chile (including the cups), I don't know how expensive they are here in BsAs.

Electronics in Chile can be competitively priced, depending on exactly what you want, and prices are easy to compare, either by going to one of the shopping centres (Costanera Center, Plaza Egana, etc), or checking the prices online for the main department stores and electronics specialists. Refurbished mobile phones (Costanera Center basement) were a particularly good buy.

Another place with prices at least sometimes better than Chile would be Asuncion, Paraguay, equally easy to get to, and again go to the main shopping centres like Shopping Mariscal or Shopping del Sol.

Everyone keeps going on about MercadoLibre, but you cannot use it unless you have a DNI
