The Obama vs Romney battles continues

Evil rich man. Hates the poor and middle class.

You are the only one saying this. You're having an argument with yourself. Hope you're having fun.

All this while Michelle has spent an "estimated" 10,000,000 on vacations.

"Estimated" by people who rely on the fact that people will unquestioningly parrot their numbers without questioning their validity. You might want to engage in a little critical thinking at times.

And quoting MediaMatters? Please they are worse than HuffPo

Nope, quoting Obama's publicly available tax returns for the past 10 years.

Here's the classic quote, from a historian that wasn't a "conspiracy theorist", but who was allowed to research a network of power rooted in the world of international finance:

The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy.

I have to say I don't agree with much posted here. Starting a revolt or breaking up the country into 50 separate countries doesn't seem like reasonable options. I actually think this election gives the starkest contrast in political positions in quite some time. I think it's an important election that does matter.

I appreciate your hope for a change, and I understand it.

But I have to ask - even if the background and opinions of the candidates are disparate, on what is based your statement that it's an important election? In a perfect world, every election matters, but in the reality of US politics, what is it that's going to change? If nothing changes, I don't see how it can be an important election unless the lesson of the immutability of the juggernaut is counted as important.

No one ever said anything about the US breaking up into 50 separate countries. I happen to think Texas would go it alone, but who knows? Do a search on secession in the US and there are learned people out there talking about possible political boundaries that could result from a break up of the US. If I remember correctly, it usually goes from like 8 to 16 different countries.

And why isn't that a solution? Do we really want 300+ million people marching in lockstep at the point of a gun? I saw a statistic once - the US has 5% of the world population, but 25% of the world's prisoner population. There's got to be a better way.

Politics in the US won't change, not in any real way, for a long time if ever. Too much power. Too many blind idiots taking from the money tree, not realizing that it could be their generation that ends up bankrupting the nation and incarcerating a good percentage of the population that doesn't comply with its will in the process.

This is 'unbiased' opinion of a non-voter

I am hoping Romney will win because the world needs somebody who actually stops the 'live behound your means' and the US starts to balance the books. Europe would also benefit from that.

I do however see that Obama complied with most what he promised, other then the closing of Guantamo and the immigration reform.

I think you did advocate the breakup of the union which sounds like 50 new countries .

I didn't say other elections are unimportant but that I do believe this one is. It's
Important because I believe one of the two parties has completely lost its way and electing them could do long lasting damage to the country.

Sorry but I don't get your reference to incarceration rates or that people are being forced a gun point to march in lockstep. Are you saying people in the US are not able to make changes politically because of jailing or worse at the hands of the government?

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, regressive, Marxists, and Obama supporters, et. al.:

We have stuck together since the late 1950s for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

1. Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by land mass, each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides had such distinct and disparate tastes.

2. We don't like redistributive taxes, so you can keep them.

3. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

4. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military.

5. We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar, and bio-diesel.

6. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O'Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.

7. We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street.

8. You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless homeboys, hippies, druggies, and illegal aliens.

9. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks.

10. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood ..

11. You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.

12. You can have the peace-niks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

13. We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.

14. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness, and Shirley McLain. You can also have the U.N., but we will no longer be paying the bill.

15. We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

16. You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors..

17. We'll continue to believe healthcare is an earned luxury and not a right. With affordability reforms needed.

18. We'll keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "The National Anthem."

19. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute "Imagine", "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing", "Kum Ba Ya," or "We Are the World".

20. We'll practice trickledown economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.

21. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our constitution and our flag.

22. Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,
John J. Wall

P.S.: Also, please take Ted Turner, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen, Barbara Streisand, and Jane Fonda with you.

P.S.S..: And you won't have to "Press 1 for English" when you call our country.

The resulting country described sounds like a cross between between Somalia and the Third Riech.

What a piece of shit thread. I am enjoying my time here , AWAY from the BULLSHIT rhetoric in the US media regarding the election. One bright spot , I thought , was this forum. You all sound as bad as Limbaugh vs. Maher ! I will not read this thread further , and you all can bash each others brains out , like everyone else in America.

At least we ALL agree to complain about Christina !!

I think it's safe to say that a vast majority of expats living in BA are notoriously socialist or have a socialist like thinking (not all). So my response for you all is, you're in your ideological socialist utopia. Stay down here and don't vote in the US general election to ruin it for the rest of us who believe in a merit-based system.

In this next general election it's not Obama vs. Romney, it's Socialism vs. Capitalism. I personally think they're both scumbags, but I'll put Capitalism in front of Socialism any day of the week.

Wow!
