Tiping the Building Porter?

Any advice on how much to give our long-time building porter as a regalito for Christmas/ i.e. year-end tip?

I give my long time bilingual and very helpful portero $8,000p.

In my building I noticed that tenants, 170 apartments, tend to give as year end presents perhaps a bottle of Champagne or a Christmas gift box (with Sidra, pan dulce, chocolates , etc $3000 /$5000) available in most supers like Disco or Carrefour, Bonafide. We have eight full time workers in the payroll ..!

I know I shouldn’t think in usd, but would 12,000 pesos. (1000 pesos per month) be excessive? That‘s $40.

I found they really appreciate the high level Christmas box. I don't think the local tenants give them anything so they are really appreciative.

I gave mine $35,000. A bit rich I suppose but he's a super fellow and so helpful.

I'm very generous with my porter and his wife. But they are very good to me and take care of my apartment while I'm not here. They are constantly doing repairs and work that I asked him to, they are just amazing.
