Top Gear Expelled From Argentina

Argentina issued the license plate, why the uproar? Crazy beyond belief. Any excuse to play VICTIM.

They didn't issue it. It was issued in the early 90s by the DVLA in the uk.

They did however authorise it as a tourist car for three months or whatever the local term is.

I'm beginning to think it was a bizarre coincidence really. The car has its number plate it was issued with when it was new in the 90s. It was bought in August this year for a show they were doing down here.

What's interesting is that the car ended up with H1 VAE which is on a 2006 Porsche right now in the UK.

Presumably the owner of the personalised number plate moved the registration from his old Porsche to his new one but left the old ones in the boot or something when he sold it. It would explain where the fuck they got a UK number plate from in the south of Argentina.

Funnily enough driving with the H1 VAE number plate would be illegal in both the UK and Argentina.

The car in question is a 1992 Porsche 928. So the issue time of the plate is correct.

Quite interesting reading Argentina autoblog on this story. Going back to mid-september theres a story when the cars were spotted in Bariloche with the original licence plates and from the 170 comments from Argentines excited by Top Gear appearing in Argentina not one mentioned the porsche license plate H982 FKL that was very visible in the autoblog sourced photos.
And today Clarkson does state in the Sunday Times that the cars arrived in Argentina with those plates but were removed in Chile when the coincidence was discovered. They then arrived in Tierra del fuego at the end of their journey where the idea was to re-create a football game of England v Argentina using the cars but instead they were hunted down, protested against and sent packing by the locals for whatever reason (probably truck drivers who hadnt protested for a few days and were bored), or perhaps someone had seen the photos in Bariloche on the internet and took offense.

Regardless of whether this was a geniune mistake ,or a cheeky , insenstive "joke" by Top Gear or whatever, Its just very sad that a tv show thats viewed by some 800 million people around the globe will have a finale in its Christmas special of group of Argentine thugs throwing stones and abuse at the entire top gear team.

Anyway this is the website, they show a link of the cars in the local police station now http://autoblog.com.ar/

a stupid moron that provokes everywhere they go, make fun of the local people in Asia, in Mexico, etc etc, and then you think this is a coincidence?!?!?! come on!!! please!!! noone would never ever think this could be a coincidence, the number AND the letters, it cant be a coincidence, especially when you look how he behaved abroad.

Is it a mere coincidence that you have an antagonistic relationship with many expats on this forum and that you gave out false information regarding a rigged FIFA world cup which ultimately led to my ruin?

He may be a stupid conservative moron who makes easy jokes at other peoples expense but i don't think this was on purpose. They illegally changed number plates whilst in Chile after someone on twitter pointed it out to them. The car only ever had that number plate in Bariloche, they then drove the rest of the way with a replacement number plate.

someone paid for a full report.

seems the car got its new number plate in 2001
