Touristy Things To Do When Visitors Stay With You?

Tourist activities:

- Teatro Colon (a show, not the tour).
- The galleries: Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Museo de Arte Moderno, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (MACBA).
- Recoleta Cemetery (of course).
- A visit to San Telmo to see some Tango.
- Street art tour/wander in La Boca.

These seems to be popular activities with the tourists that visited us.

Oh yes, Fuerza Bruta! That show is great and right in the heart of Recoleta (Centro Cultural Recoleta, next to BA Design).

I did this tour recently, and found it very good:

Cost is whatever you decide to donate at the end.

It was great, many portenios have never heard of Mercadito de Maschwitz, but they're adding on to it. It was very calm, and great food, and all the stores and restaurants let my friend and I in with her dog who wasn't even on a leash. I suggest going early becuase around 4pm it starts to get crowded. You could leave your cell phone on the table and no one would touch it. My friend was so occupied with getting her dog out of the car and getting his water bottle and treats that she left the passenger door completely open. No joke. Twenty-five minutes later as we passed the car walking down the street we saw the car with the open door and no one had even touched it. I recommend it as a nice place to get out of the city. If you can't get there by car, the bus #60 takes you there.

I think I'll take myself there in a couple of weeks.

I think an afternoon in Tigre is quite nice. There is the art museum, hour-long boat rides that loop around the nearby rivers, the mate museum is sort of a kick, plus the usual market scene.

Mercadito de Maschwitz and Paseo Mendoza in Ingeniero Maschwitz is a really beautiful antique neighborhood with lots of organic restaurants and fairs. To get there you have to take Aceso Norte on Panamericana, Ramal Escobar.

I go there a lot!!! great lemonades in the ground floor. The place is very nice!!

I also recommend Tigre. The market is nice , and you can take a tour on an old , but loud , typical boat. Some good restaurants. Also some up in the Delta , that you can reach by launcha. If you feel really challenged , try the casino , for a Argentine contrast to Vegas.....

I agree that Pick up the Fork is the best site for new and tasty restaurants.

My preference is http://www.saltshaker.net/restaurant-reviews (full disclosure: author/chef is a personal friend).
