Tucuman's AWESOME!

My memories:

-There's that building that's on the 50 Centavo piece.

-A guy in my hostel had an epileptic seizure in the TV room as I was packing up my computer and stuff late the night I was there and he was taken to the hospital.

-I forgot to pack up my power cord in all of the excitement of the epileptic seizure.

How could you top memories like that?

Tucuman actually has some great Art Deco Architecture, and if you are interested in railways, the Tafi Viejo musuem and rail repair yards are worth a visit.
Plus, it is rumored that the great, lost art deco streamlined locomotive, "Argentina", is languishing in a shed in Tucuman- that would be enough bait for me, any day of the year.

And Cesar Pelli, the modern architect, was born there...

What a fascinating article!
But such a shame to see her go to ruin :(

I actually found some more recent info about "Argentina"- and its not good.
Thieves have stripped off a lot of the bodywork, to sell for scrap metal.
This stuff is very difficult to replace- it must be made by very skilled metalworkers, and that is not cheap.
Unless the government steps in, I doubt the loco will ever be restored, and thats doubly sad, considering that as recently as 2003, it was all there.
Most of the parts that have been stripped are the toughest ones to remake.
