Unlocked Cell Phone Help

I unlocked my phone when I came here by calling my server at home and giving them the IMEI code. This is usually written inside the phone or under the battery somewhere. They gave me an unlock code that I typed into my phone and unlocked it manually myself. You are entitled to the unlock code but some companies get funny about giving them out because they know you no longer need your phone for their network but it is worth fighting for.
 
You can obtain the IMEI code just by dialing *#06# on your phone, it will automatically display on the screen. Good Luck
 
Does anyone know of the whereabouts of such "small phone shops" offering to unlock phones for a small fee???
