Us Tourist Robbed

Don't be juvenile. Non of the tellers who take your deposits are just putting the money in their wallets. I doubt any of the people working 2 blocks away from you are committing crimes on the same basis as the people living a few blocks from gringoboy are. And even if they were (they're not), it wouldn't at all excuse the other behavior..

With all due respect, this is a poorly-executed reduction ad absurdum, because it lacks credibility. Everyone who read his post knew he was talking about the CEO and board of directors, so trying to redirect the accusation to the tellers and then dismiss it isn't really going to convince anyone. In all sympathy, though, this is a very difficult position to defend, given that virtually everyone hates and resents bankers. I think you'd have been better off just letting this one slide past and choosing to engage on another issue where you had a chance to score some points.

With all due respect that was kind of my point. Everyone may have known he was talking about the CEO, et al, yet his post clearly tried to draw parallels which don't exist. I called his non sequitur juvenile because it was trying to equate two situations which are not analogous at all and was bordering on being the equivalent of the 'I know I screwed up but look what HE did'.

Ironically his next post was about how wanting justice for all was not juvenile.

Actually Felipe, it blows me away that you think the comparison is juvenile. If I understand your point, it is that we should crack down on crime. Fantastic, we agree there. So if we want to crack down on crime, where should we start? Obviously with the people who are stealing the most. Yet you choose to focus on somebody that is stealing 1/29 billionth as much as the crooks in the banks.

When I point this out I am told that I am being juvenile and that there is no analogy. Why is there no analogy? Obviously because the rule of law applies first and foremost to the micro crooks, not to the big fish. Want evidence of that? Just check out the search feature here and compare the amount of crime threads to the amount of bailout threads. And of your total assets, who has stolen more from you? Now does the parallel exist?

If a banker ever looses his job, he can get another one as an illusionist;he just has to remember to perform in a suit and tie.

This put it all in perspective: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Horses_%281995_film%29

An underprivileged motochorro alleged Purse thief was beaten up by a Recoleta mob of well to do residents, in Callao and Libertador. At 4 pm blood all over the place. The thief dragged an older lady with the purse. A vigilante caught him and knocked him off the bike, to the satisfaction of all the Recoleta passers by.

Whether or not he stole the purse, the whole Recoleta mob should go to jail. I am presuming they literally beat him up, rather than detaining him until the police could come.

Did you not see the video? It was pretty good, some guy nailed him with his car and the crowed, after getting a few good hits in, just detained him till the police arrived. It was nothing like what we've been seeing recently. I assume thats the one that Rich One is talking about.

If I remember correctly the motochorro never served time in that case either.

Just saw today's headlines, I was wrong, it was a new incident.
