Hispanics in USA will increasingly vote conservative, because they are, which means GOP. That's the demographic that counts. Unless your kids are Mexicanos or Central Americanos.I dont find it either "nice", or "not nice". Its a simple fact, which, of course, does not change the fact that the electoral college votes will decide THIS election.
But its extremely important as a signifier of the way demographics in the USA are changing, and what direction they are changing in. Bush lost the popular vote to Gore, Trump lost it to both Clinton and Biden.
The popular vote will, eventually, change the electoral college votes, even if no electoral college changes are made, and, most likely it will happen in the next one or two presidential elections.
IF Trump wins this time, it will still be quite meaningful how badly he loses the popular vote.
I have kids in their 20s. I know many of their friends. Those kids will be in the majority voter category within 8 to 12 years, and they do NOT vote like their grandparents did. Even the most libertarian of my kids friends still are in favor of gay marriage, legalized pot, mail in voting, and are pro-choice.
The Biden votes represent a majority of the US voters. And that majority, sooner or later, is gonna come after Republican Gerrymandering, and most likely will change the Electoral College, too. The Squad all got re-elected, no problem. Along with a bunch more young, (not rich) women of color in the house.
To quote ol' Paul Kantner, in a song from almost 50 years ago- "Its a fresh wind that blows against the empire".
Trumpism is not going away. It is growing. In the ongoing civil war, it will win. It certainly is better armed.
As a matter of fact, my son did go to a majority hispanic high school, and a lot of his friends are, as he says, POC.Hispanics in USA will increasingly vote conservative, because they are, which means GOP. That's the demographic that counts. Unless your kids are Mexicanos or Central Americanos.
And not all young people--even the white privileged kind with hippy parents (not you!)--think a high-tax quasi-socialist state is the way to go. If they do, they are welcome, as are you, to pay far more in taxes than you are required. Or maybe adopt a few homeless in Venice, CA. No one will stop you.
Electoral College not going away for a long time. Especially with GOP picking up House seats. That's akin to the "pack the Supreme Court" fantasy.
And I assume Trump will LOSE. But he will be far more potent growing his anti-socialist, low-tax base outside the White House. Trumpism is not going away. It is growing. In the ongoing civil war, it will win. It certainly is better armed.
I am assuming you did not actually witness any of these demonstrations, or visit any of these areas- My mother, and my son, both lived within 4 blocks of the "occupied zone" in Seattle- and I visited them during these times. A single block of one street was actively shut down, and some graffitti occured. NO buildings burned down. A few broken windows. Most of the arrested people were young white men who didnt live in the area. Nationally, the majority of actual arrests for vandalism were not BLM, but right wing agitators. I know people in Oakland, Minneapolis, and other cities who have reported similarly. Video online of proven white racists breaking windows, and setting fires in Mn.Wanna know why this election was so tight? Why so many otherwise reasonable people got attracted by the "law and order" campaign promises? Here is one of the reason why:
Apparently begging people to protest peacefully and not destroy your property is "white supremacy".

I imagine an opposite version of cfk standing there limp dick shaking macris hand. That scowl on her face even after they won. With things as they currently stand, can anyone imagine the following scene: the Chief Justice swearing Biden in at the Capitol on 20 January with Trump politely applauding in the front row.
Seems pretty unlikely to me. There are more twists and turns to this story than we can yet see.
