USA Who will Be President ? Where to Watch

Right, and the BBC and the NYT must be part of the right wing conspiracy too.

June 30 - Two teenagers shot in Seattle's Chop autonomous zone

July 7 - 1 Dead and 1 Injured After Gunfire in Seattle’s ‘Autonomous Zone’

July 23 -
Another Fatal Shooting in Seattle’s ‘CHOP’ Protest Zone

Now, were most of the BLM protests peaceful? Yes, the vast majority was. Were their grievances about police brutality justified? No questions about it. Their grievances are 100% legit.
But, within the movement itself, there is non-trivial minority that is violent, racists and probably outright sociopathic. And the issue is that in politics, perception matters, a lot, specially in the age of social media.
Solely based on Trump's performance, Joe Biden should have won by a landslide, the Democrats should have gained control of the house and the senate and Mitch Mcconnell and Lindsey Graham should have had their asses handed out to them this election.
Why didn't that happen? Because elements on both sides are fanning the flames of the culture/identity wars, which drives fear and tribalism to be the primary factors guiding people's political choices . And as long as the reasonable elements on both sides of the isle fail to recognize and take action to end that, polarization will continue to get worse.

I think it's important to look at who the "protesters" are, not just their political banner. In Seattle and Portland the BLM protesters were majority white liberal college activist types and druggies who co-opted the original message into just a general anti-police, anti-Trump movement. In the summer, there was a "BLM" protest at a police station in the South Side of Chicago that consisted of mostly local college students, and interestingly, the Black residents came out to protest the protesters.

The tribalism is really two factions of white people going at each other as part of a phony culture war. Hippies vs cowboys like it was during the 60s. I recently saw an interview on the Roland Martin show where a Black academic/activist was asked if the Black community should be concerned with the Proud Boys and similar goups, and her was response was no, because they're only beating up other white people.

Even the most libertarian of my kids friends still are in favor of gay marriage, legalized pot, mail in voting, and are pro-choice.

Mail in voting is opposed by the republicans because it doesn't benefit them. I don't think it's a liberal or conservative value.

I agree with you that it's a generational issue though. The younger people I know that are republicans that are in their 30s and 20s most are pro legalization, pro gay marriage, pro-choice, not very religious. The culture issues have largely been "won" by the liberals.

Along with a bunch more young, (not rich) women of color in the house.

Not rich yet. Give them 10 years when they retire from politics, and Bank of America hires them as diversity consultants at $800,000 per year for their favorable votes while in congress.

To many Bush was the worst president in US history, then Obama came along and all was supposed to change. That was the turning point except after eight years it wasnt. For democrats and left leaners a far worse president than Bush followed and might still get a 2nd term...

I somewhat disagree. From a policy standpoint, Bush was far, far worse than Trump. Two endless wars (one based on completely fabricated evidence), record deficit, worst recession in a century (until this year), just to name a few things. Most people who hate Trump hate what he stands for, and his brash personality, more than they oppose his policies, which for the most part are just standard for the GOP.

If Trump had not wavered in pulling the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, he would have won comfortably. I despose them both, but who's objectively worse: a racist and sexist president who doesn't start wars, or one that grins and speaks politely and sends hundreds of thousands of people to die for nothing?

George W Bush should get down on his knees every morning and thank all the gods for DJT, but as far as the worst presidents, I'm not sure he rates being in the top (bottom?) ten. Harding, Andrew Johnson, both Harrisons, Fillmore, Pierce, etc.

The shrub was just out of his depth, and Cheney's patsy.

How dare you besmirch the good name of Fillmore!

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney: “What the president needs to do, frankly, is put his big-boy pants on. He needs to acknowledge that he lost. And he needs to congratulate the winner. Just as Jimmy Carter did. Just as George HW Bush did. Just as Al Gore did.”

Of course, this will never happen- we will never see adult behavior from Trump. But it sure looks like he is losing, probably will lose Nevada, Arizona, Penn. AND Georgia.
And Biden is currently well over 4 million popular votes ahead...

There is still no evidence that either of the Seattle shooting deaths were "political". In both cases they appear to be pre-existing beefs between relatively non-political kids - one of the dead was a rapper, who evidently had somebody who was not in any way associated with the protest shoot him.
As I mentioned before, both my 92 year old mom, and my 26 year old son lived in that neighborhood- and it was far from a war zone. My moms late 70s boyfriend would stroll over there, and said it was like a streetfair, and they gave him free food.
In both Seattle and Portland, the protests are highly localized, with zero buildings actually burned down, just some windows broken very early on. In each case, walk 5 blocks away, and city life went on every day as normal.

Portland's mayor, who has been called a "Fool" and worse by Trump, handily won re-election, so the people of Portland dont seem to feel he mishandled the protests that much.
The media, particularly Fox, played the protests up to be really violent- but in reality, there was some violence in Minneapolis in the first week, and Oakland and LA had some opportunistic, not very political looting and vandalism, also in late may early june, but 95% of the protesting has been not only peaceful, but mostly moms and retirees.
The right, on the other hand, has, since the first of the year, driven something like 80 vehiciles into crowds, shot at least two Law enforcement officers and a handful of protesters dead, and is responsible for a lot of property damage as well.

Both sides, in fact, do not do it.

Very likely that Trump will pull a CFK and refuse to attend the transition ceremony.

Chalk one more business failure for the self-professed King of the Deal. After frittering away the 436 million dollars his daddy gave him, he bankrupted casinos, hotels, golf courses, his "university", his own airline, his magazine, his line of steaks, and even his New Jersey Generals football team.

His latest "business" endeavor, started as a gimmick to use the Presidency to advance his brand, is now crashing. Thank heavens this toxic guy is being ousted before completely bankrupting the USA.
