This list is not exhaustive of course. There are many examples of people using whatever was at their disposal at the time to carry out their wish to kill others. You can ban guns but where are you going to stop? Ban knives? Only the government decides who can cut a damn onion in their homes? This is a fallacious argument. People love to rail against guns but when are you going to learn that guns don't automatically fire. They don't have a brain of their own.
People do a lot more damaage at times without any guns. This Holmes guy was literally loaded with weapons left, right and center. His apartment booby trapped. Set to blow up anyone who would dare open his door and he killed 12 people and injured around 50. I am not saying "its nothing" but put that in perspective. You have a South Korean man who burns a subway and kills about 200 people.
Do you ban fire and heat? How about just banning people with hands? That way they can't handle anything dangerous. But then our overlords the government might decide "oh people kicking is dangerous, let's cut off their feet as well".
OR we can put the blame where it belongs. Idiots with a will do kill others will carry out their mission (or whatever they think it is) whether they have guns or not. Its naive and frankly stupid to think if you ban guns the killings will stop.
Guns also save lives (http://articles.latimes.com/2007/dec/11/nation/na-shoot11) but I guess that doesn't get people to cry out "enact laws that make buying guns necessary for everyone".
