What to do with United vouchers?

Hi all,

I just realised I have some vouchers from United Airlines that need to be used to buy a ticket before October 31st (My flight from Lima to Washington DC was oversold last year and I had to stay in Peru for an extra day, so they gave me these vouchers). The issue is that I don´t foresee any trip to America anytime soon (I have a new job) and I don´t know what to do with the vouchers....

Any person can use them as long as they buy a United flight, so I was wondering if you have any experience selling discounted vouchers online? They are USD 500 worth value, but I would be happy to get half or even less. Should I try craiglist? Are there any safer websites for this sort of thing? Do you know if there is any way to extend the one year period to use them?

Any tips are appreciated!
 
Does the ticket just have to be purchased before the 31st or does the travel have to be completed by the 31st? If it is the former, I'll give you $200 dollars or $1200 pesos (either) for them.
