Rich Ones are feeling the cold sting of poverty. Fried Pigeon is thinking of returning to his trailer in West Viginy. Greek Yogurt has given up his dreams of tripping the light fantastic at his favorite Milongas and is resigned to learning Flamingo. Frenchie is waxing nostalgically for the generous French welfare system. Below Zero is now accepting pesos for citizenship processing.

As the noose slowly tightens around the necks of the Perma-Tourists, what are your strategies for coping with the end of Dolar Blue?

Some are thinking of becoming massage therapists. Others teaching English. But the favorite strategy for dealing with the End of Dolar Blue is selling Tomate Locos on Florida St.

Back in 2009 (I think) a girl from El Paso came to live for a while. Take Spanish classes, get out of Texas... (not that she couldn't have done Language Intensive Spanish in El Paso, but... she was living in Dallas at the time.)

Anyway, her parents came to visit and they walked down Calle Florida. Her dad was mesmerized by the Tomate Loco so much that they bought one to give to someone back in El Paso. The only problem was that her dad couldn't get over his infatuation with it, so when he got back to El Paso, he never gave the Tomate Loco to its intended recipient. Which all led to...

Her second to last day in Buenos Aires, we had to return to Calle Florida and scour for a Tomate Loco stand. We ended up getting 3. Those things are LOCO!!
 
haha! i can't believe I'm not the only one that loves tomates loco!!!! i was searching for so long for those tomatoes to buy for my nephew, but i couldn't find anyone on the street in florida selling them anymore, then i went to san thelmo market...and found them! i bought a huevo loco too! hehe
 
Are those the things that spatter when you throw it, then sloooowly come together again? Tom bought one in San Thelmo. Very cool.

So when the Central Bank stops dumping tens of millions of dollars on the market , (US$20 million today alone) the questions remains the same:

When will the peso hit 10 , again ??

I say end of the week. Or Monday.

btw: I love those tomate loco things too. Bough some for the sobrinos.
