which medical insurance?

thank goodness I am so guapo and mi cuerpo es perfecto
I'll go with the plan mas barrato

Pretty much everything under the sun is covered under the 510 plan. 210 is fine although there are limitations on which hospitals you can go to and not everything is covered.

I have 310 and have been completely satisfied. Prior to that, I had Swiss Medical and they were less expensive but I didn't love them and some of the things I wanted weren't covered so switched at the recommendation of friends who are doctors (all of whom have OSDE).

I don't know the answer. I do have the most comprehensive plan available, but I've only had tests, no treatment of any kind.

It seems really inexpensive for the most comprehensive MEDICUS plan available, less than half of what I am paying for a plan that is far from the most comprehensive offered by OMINT.

Here are the basic deatials regarding the Medicus expat group plan(s):

All plans include dental coverage.

All include International coverage: cover you out of the country for up to 60 days (per trip, step foot in Argentina one day and leave and you get another 60 days) and are affiliated with top international institutions including Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

No pre-payment if you don't have a DNI.

No contract.

Everyone under 70 pays the same rate. Only people under 64 years and 6 months can sign up.

Owned infrastructure and access to private Hospitals including: Sanatorio Otamendi, Instituto de Diagnóstico y Tratamiento, Sanatorio Las Lomas, British Hospital , German Hospital and Italian Hospital.

Extensive coverage throughout the entire country.

Here are the monthly rates (plus 10% tax).

Platinum Plan (“I”) $550

Gold Plan (“MTB”) $473

Silver Plan (“Corporate”) $345

The main differences among the plans are:

The Lower plan only has access to the Medicus facilities: The Medicus building, the Otamendi and the Cardiovascular. Also, you need to pay a fee for home visits (around AR$ 25).

The Mid plan has access to the Medicus facilities, plus to all the other hospitals and sanatories that are affiliated with Medicus.

The High plan has access to all the same as the Gold plan, plus it has more reknowned specialists.

Thanks Steve. I think these prices are amazing. About 1/3 what I am paying now. I assume this expat plan is much cheaper than the normal plan. I wonder how they can do it -- are there any catches?

I don't know how Medicus works. I had a friend some years ago who was in MEDICUS. He was treated for cancer at IADT which is one of the very best clinics in BA. Maybe they have changed their policies and now require you only to use MEDICUS facilities. I don't know. I do know that when I checked with MEDICUS a number of years ago they told me that I could use the privte clinics that I like however that may have changed. I have no idea. One of the reasons that I like OMINT is the freedom that it gives me to go where I want but it really is getting awfully expensive.

IADT and Otamendi are actually owned by Medicus.

They are getting corporate rates, just like a company. I once wanted to switch to the expats plan along with my family group, but since I already was affiliated with Medicus on my own for 10 yrs I was not eligible.Nowadays my husband is working en blanco and we are getting Medicus through his company ( elective ) and we are paying 900$ for two adults and a teenager, the same plan we had and we are saving around 40% doing so. ( our plan is an intermediate and we have several clinics to choose from and no copays. I was just at Otamendi when my baby was born and wasvery pleased with the doctors and facilities )

What do people have to do to qualify for this plan? How do you prove you are an "Expat"? Are there any catches?

The only "catch" is that there is a sign up fee but it is reasonable.

You can sign up with your passport number. Resident status isn't important.

I will send the contact info to anyone who sends me a message.

You will be able to speak with the contact person in English.

I have no business or personal interest in this.

I'm providing the info to fulfill my duties as a bully and a thug here.:p
