Why is everybody complaining?

I often read BAExpats and I love the community so I decided to sign up. But I see posts with lots of complaints like this and wonder why you don't just go back to your country? Please don't use the USA as an example, because we have massive amounts of corruption. It's just not as public and we're too dumb to ask questions.

It's really depressing to see who I assume are Americans, Australians, Western Europeans, and Citizens of the United Kingdom complaining about daily life in a country in which they chose to live. It's embarrassing and I feel ashamed to identify myself as an American. You realize that the IMF exploits Latin American, right? They're not a charity. You can blame American capitalism for a lot of the instability in Latin American, including Bolivia right now (climate change and lithium) and, in my opinion, Argentina.

Every good thing has a dark side and every bad thing contains the seeds of good. Sure, there is corruption. But that also means it's a bit easier to start a small business because if you get three no's, you'll also get two yesses. People don't lose their job for breaking rules here. If you've never benefitted from that your entire life, please feel free to make specific, quantified complaints so that I can still point out why your country is basically the same and people suck everywhere.

I'm not saying the corruption isn't horrible. What I am saying is you are heavily skewed to one side of the equation, blinded by your money, and unable to think in a mature way about a very complex, very nuanced issue that requires a more nimble mindset. I mean this respectfully. Please become more open-minded.
Your post is one, long complaint.

Makes a thread complaining about others complaining lol... Then proceeds to blame the IMF for all the problems in Latin America lol... This guy must have studied with Bajo at UBA. It's always someone else's fault remember that rule. All those evil western countries and banks picking on these poor South American countries who don't know better... Yes they definitely what is happening. It has nothing to do with ingrained corruption and a culture of selfishness short term thinking to get ahead at the expense of others.

THEY are coming for the Oil, they are coming for the Water, they are coming for the Lithium...! Been hearing this chanting for several years and wondering Who are they The Capitalists Rusia, China, USA, Soros, the Bilderberg Group , Other....?
Any ideas...

It's a low IQ way of shifting blame to outside influences. When asked for specific details and names none are forthcoming... I know some small Australian mining companies are looking for lithium lol... Let's blame them

Middlepath is a new member and is trying to raise an issue perhaps in a provocative way. Please can we hold back on comments that stray into abusive derision - that may well stifle anyone else raising issues? As far as I read he is not lining up numerous scape goats: he is saying (I think) we are guests in a adopted country where we choose to live because of its many great qualities?

The beauty of blaming problems on someone else is that it relieves Args. from the responsibility of solving them. The whole thing is out of their hands....

Insallah.....! Allah's Will Be Done....!

Luckily for me, i'm a rich old white American oh also christian and straight so...... yeah i imagine it must suck for the rest lol ( almost forgot i'm bald and overweight too)

Logical fallacy: Ad Hominem. Do you want a debate or a fight? I read Ray Dalio continuously because he's brilliant. George Soros is also brilliant. Bloomberg is on in the background, and I am some combination of a socialist and a capitalist. Please keep your assumptions to yourself. :)

Exactly. Only this. I lived in a certain state and New Yorkers had a tendency to move there and complain ad nauseum about how bad it was. I always thought, "Why not go back?". It's disrespectful of your current home. If a person makes a choice and complains about that choice, they're complaining about themselves and their ability to plan or plan to move. I'm not trying to start a fight here. I'm just saying, can we walk the middle path? Aren't there both awesome and not-so-awesome things here?

I agree that some people need to blow off steam. But I sense this pervasive sense of somehow being above these people that is very patently American. Honestly, if given the chance, most people become like the system they inhabit. I am admitting right here, right now: If I had some power, I would need tons of therapy and probably some prayer to whichever god just to keep myself in check, because power is tempting. Very, very tempting.

this is an expat board for those who live in argentina. or travel here, i suppose. if there are things we encounter in our daily lives here there is no better place to debate and discuss them or even criticize them. i don't think anyone should apologize for being critical just because whichever country we came from also has problems. my country's current president is an orange troll, for god's sakes (and i'm not a liberal).

i spend enough time on other boards that complain more than enough about the USA's problems. this is what the internet is, a place for everything.

How long have been in Argentina and how much do you know about inner workings of Argentina? Citygirl nailed it in here post. I talked with a close young Argentinian friend when Kism got back in the loop. He was crying because he knew all his hard work was now in a place where he could lose it all in a snap. That is the stark reality of Argentina I have seen one to many loose everything as the Cara Duras politics make a prosperous life based on diligence and business all but impossible. Your far better to squaller in poverty in Argentina you won't have the headaches of trying to make something out of yourself or your life.

I am not complaining FYI I am speaking facts and I left I have no appitite for what Kism could bring about.
