Peanut paste is not peanut butter. Peanut paste has been around ever since I've been here but I don't like it - tried it once when I couldn't find peanut butter. I like the salt and sugar and whatever other ingredients that go in peanut butter
"Pasta de mani" is an interpretation of "Peanut Butter". It doesn't necessarily mean "Peanut Paste". If you literally translated "Peanut Butter" it would be "Manteca de Maní" which may or may not make sense to every one. In other Latin American countries "Peanut Butter" is also called "Crema de Maní" or "Crema de Cacahuetes"
I bought some Dame Mani in the supermarket and it tasted pretty good and similar to US style peanut butter. Not exactly like creamy Jif, but it will do.

Being back in the US, the nut butters are beyond belief. So far I've had pecan butter, cashew butter, almond butter, hazelnut butter, the best was macadamia-cashew butter with clover honey!
