Advice On Buying A Gun

We dont have anything, save your sarcastic thanks and hasty condescension for someone else.

That advice was given to me by people whose backround and qualifications are ultimately more credible to me than you. I'm out of the smith and wesson circlejerk. have fun with it.

Dont reply.

Oh no! My feelings are SOOO hurt. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, not like you're adding anything valuable. Adios.

Guys please back to the original question and maybe also the legal ramification when using a gun in self defense. I am not familiar with the local laws, yet.

The best advice on buying a gun is "Don't!" It is far more likely to injure or kill you, or someone else in the household, than it is to fend off some evil-doer.

BS I was trained how to respect and use weapons starting at a very early age. No one in my family ever shot anyone or anything by accident. Of course guns need to be stored correctly, used correctly etc. But I will bet far more children die from drinking poison their dumb parents where not paying attention to than children that got ahold of their stupid parents guns.

Do not buy into the propaganda. Guns are very useful tools and everyone should know what they are, how they work and how to use them.

Just last week, a toddler accidentally shot his poor father, with a loaded gun, lying in the drawer.

Of course my friend guns are supposed to be stored in locked lockers. Not unlocked drawers. And if you want security while you sleep you take the gun out of the locker put it in a locked case near the bed with the key in it. There are cases that require both a key and button press you can open in less than 5 seconds that no child can open. In the morning you put the gun back in the gun locker. Actually I prefer to sleep with my HUGE Asado kit on floor now days. LOL I can do allot more damage with that is a confined space anyway.

Mr Camberiu, I would like to know if you asked each one of the terrorist killed by our army if they have ever used a firearm (or a bomb) against anyone.

In those days they used to kill you for your ideas, or for studying at University, or for being an oppositor (like those who call the President Kretina), etc.

If this is true, then the death of more than 1500 policemen, civilians and military personnel is an enigma, they must have killed by Martians, probably.

It is difficult to judge it now because those deaths belongs to an occupation army (dictator's forces) and to resist and kill them is not only a basic right that in this country is in the National Constitution, it is also a duty.

If you do not know, every army in the world used (and uses even today) torture against terrorists and revolutionaries, bar none. This is a game not for little old ladies drinking tea, it is a dastardly violent world we live in..

Crime exist everywhere as you pointed, but torture is a crime against humanity.

By the way, where in the world is the list of the 30,000 people killed? Have you seen it? I did not, and can not find it anywhere!!

Right, as soon as you show me the list of the 5 million jews victims of the holocaust, i show you the one about the 30.000.

I didn't know you were politicly so close to Hassan Rouhani:

Perhaps, it is that criminals usually try to hide their crimes...

I agree safe storage is a must. Also what is a gun worth if you cannot handle it in an extreme situations / high adrenaline situations and possibly in the dark - so regular training is also necessary.

In Argentina there is a general consensus among "experts" that possessing a gun doesn't help with self defense. Even though the Codigo Penal (article 34) provides for the right to defend oneself, whether that right was exercised within accepted limits or not will be judged by the authorities in the light of whether the damage you did to the criminal was acceptable under the circumstances or not. If the authorities deem that you shot the dude one too many times or that you could have avoided hurting the criminal altogether, then you will be charged with homicide (obviously in case the criminal dies, or a crime related to undue bodily harm if the criminal doesn't die).

In the case of self defense, especially with a gun, you are guilty until proven innocent. And God help you if the guy you were trying to protect yourself from dies.

The assumption in the law is that anywhere where the State can protect you, you do not have the right to self defense. The interpretation of whether the State could have protected you or not is up to the judges.

Anyway, one has to be extremely careful using a gun for self defense in Argentina, and not because of some made up reason that si o si you are going to end up shooting yourself or getting your family killed (that's an assumption that is akin to saying that if you get a car, you will run someone over) but because it is extremely difficult to prove that you shot the bastards trying to do you and your family harm for legitimate reasons and within the bounds provided for within the law.
