It all depends on the availability of the flights. I flew back from Paris last week, and the plane was half empty, everyone had 2 seats (this must have been the 1st time in my life!). On the go trip 10 days earlier it was completely fully booked. That is why sometimes it is good to book last minute, sometimes it is not.
I am now trying to book my daughter on a plane to Europe during Argentine school holidays, price is 2700 usd with air france and 10,000 euro (yes, 10,000 euro economy!!) with Lufthansa, if you do the oposite direccion it is 1400 euro with Air france... If you want to come here during French school - christmasholidays you must book one year ahead or you pay 2000 euro or more, with Air France.
School holidays have an influence, but also big fairs,... I think that at this moment the volcano ashes have its influence.
