Any English Bookstore

Yes, Walrus is open from 12-8 daily. I think their books are really overpriced. They were selling used copies of the clarin books for $15 pesos each, and I had just bought several of them brand new for $2 pesos each at the Libertad bookstore near the Uruguay subte stop. I noticed a number of other overpriced books too. The books at KEL seem to be better priced...

SBS is another chain selling books in foreign languages. you can check the stores here:

imported&new english books are really overpriced in argentina -taxes issues i guess.
when it comes to used books, there's usually a wide variety in the weekend markets of parque rivadavia, parque centenario and plaza italia.

They have SOME books in english in Ateneo libraries, one is in Cabildo and Juramento, right in the corner.
Since el Ateneo and "Yenny" are both from the same company "Tematika", I asume that they might have some english books in Yenny, they're new books though.

hope that helps!

Does anyone know of a Public Library with English books on hand?

To the OP-

Since you are on the Linea D, it would be convenient for you to go to the Facultad de Medicina station... On Viamonte (2052) there is an English bookstore, Estarí Libros (http://www.estarilibros.com.ar/).

They have a good mix of fiction as well as non-fiction English reference books (for teaching ESL). There are also a few books in Spanish. Near the front they also have a discount table as well.

Suerte!

Hi! I'm new here. I just found a good, complete guide to bookstores here in BA. Here's the link. (It's a PDF, you need Adobe Reader to open)

Good luck!
