In the public hospitals training is exemplary. BA is full of european medical students doing placement years here, and without exception everyone I've spoken to has said that the staff are incredibly well trained and competent. In public hospitals there's a lack of equipment, and you have to buy your own drugs, dressings, and any other requirements. Friend broke his leg in a car crash recently, and his family had to go out and buy the pins for his leg before they could operate.
Private care has the same level of training, plus the most modern equipment technology has to offer, and a higher doctor to patient ratio than you'll find in europe or the US and for far lower costs.
There's lots to like about the system here.
