After all her job is to keep the house clean, so she touches everything. She certainly knows where I "hide" my jewels and when there is a painter or a plumber coming she hides it from them!

I suppose I just expected her to tell me the truth, to say that yes she did use the PC. I think that's what bothered me the most, not knowing for sure if she was lying or not.

And as for your personal emails, well, she likely is uneducated so it would be like some of us trying to read Chinese (0 interest).

I had my maid keeping my house for 5 days, I allowed her to use my computer but first I protected it with a password so that she had to log in as a guest, and second, I made a back-up of all my important files on a second hard drive that I removed and stored apart.

She acted stupidely but somehow you let her act that way, well not trying to find her any excuse though, that was clearly stupid

Think the others summed it up. She had to say it wasn't her. All computers should be password protected, that's on you. But a conversation setting parameters as to what you expect should save you from having to find a new maid.

well that's a simple answer : my daughter came home from school, went to her room to finish her essay, looked in her history to look for the sites she had seen the day before, and had saw this. She came yelling to the kitchen "WHO TOUCHED MY COMPUTER WHO HAS BEEN IN MY ROOM WHO WATCHES PORN". While at the 1st questions I said 'no one dear' thinking 'it's her imagination again' the word porn made me look up and check. Indeed. Porn on my daughters laptop. So I checked the pc we have in the kitchen (which we use to listen music or look something up on the internet, nothing else, so it is not locked with a pasword because there is nothing on it), and there I found more... We checked the dates, the contence,...
And why my daughter had no pasword i don't know, she always had, but said it's so annoying to give in the pasword again and again so she canceled it. She has put one in again now.
