ATM in Uruguay for dollars

in Colonia yesterday 7/31 and tried to get dollars from the ATM. $300 limit and only from a savings account. No access to checking accounts. In fact in the Shopping.......the machine went bonkers when I asked for dollars :)

The local business charge 3-1 for peso argentino. The rate on the dollar is 22-1. Almost 7:1 Looks closer to the Blue Dollar

Well the guys that told me about this went to Montevideo, but i supose is the same in both of them, if anyone had gone to colonia casino and try it let us know.
There is one more way to get dollars if you have an Argentine Bank account, this one i tested my self and work perfectly, you need some friend that have a paypal account outside of the country, tell this guy to send you a money request and pay that with your credit card, it will cost you around 3-5% of the payed amount, that is the comision paypal take ;)

Casino chips in Colonia, can Only be purchased with dollars cash .... 7/24. No other options. (believe I posted this before in another thread??)

They can be compared to lion tamers.
When they say 'jump', we jump.
For how much longer though?

I bought my tickets to get to Uruguay tomorrow and I would be much grateful if someone could PM me the address of a good cueva in Buenos Aires.
Thank you,

Marc

Hi All,

I'm about to go to Uruguay next week and have a question RE: Dollars, ATMs, Pesos and the like.

I'm going to likely use my Canadian debit card since my BOA card was declined at ATMs in
Bolivia and I had to do cash advances in branch, which at least in Bolivia, worked great.

So here's my questions:

Amount: +/- $200 USD

For ATM operator fees, which UY Bank has the lowest for foreigners?
Am I better to pull out USD from the ATM or UYU then convert it?

Finally, I'm terrible at math and was wondering if someone could help clarify this:
If I trade all my ARS pesos for dollars in say Colonia, they come back and sell the dollars,
I will still make a profit, right? Is there anyway to check the Uruguay Blue rate?
