Best Beaches / Closest?

Just as a curiosity: Mar del Plata was founded by English people (that's why it looks SO MUCH like Brighton). Pinamar and Villa Gesell by German Nazis and Socialists respectively. One is cleaner than the other, guess which.

Interesting, I knew it had a feeling of some of the victorian beaches back home, maybe thats why I didnt like it much. I much prefer the more tranquil beaches away from the big towns. I also never knew that the centre beach in Mar del Plata is called `Bristol Beach` , god knows why its called after Bristol.

You should know exactly when you want to visit the coast. December is a wonderful time of the year because the weather is nice and not very busy. Avoid Mar del Plata in January, I understand that you have to queue for everything. I don't particularly like it but there's so much to do and see there. I would say CARILO, PINAMAR and VALERIA DEL MAR are the best options. There are all very close one to the other.

We like Carilo. And we also like Mar de las Pampas. I think both are really charming and storybook-like. Easy by bus... Carilo is closer. Certainly the water is colder than Brazil, the med, or Caribbean. But to take some sun and stroll both offer plenty. You'll find plenty of designer stores in Carilo if that's your thing.Frankly, Carilo is far more charming than Punte del Este and the Hamptons... combined, I've never seen visited another bech town like it. Skip Pinamar for either of these two.

Carilo is a decent place . Nice hotels and good restaurants. Shopping is not great but you will have a great time if you are looking for relaxation.
