Blue Dollar - Over

Wait at least until its clear how the new regulations look like - it might change every 24 hours ;) And for sure don't sell at a cuave for 9.50 - that price is just a joke, even if the government would allow changes of any amount.

9.50 is lower than the Official rate of $9,60.?
The people that buy at the official rate to speculate will turn around and sell for less :D

If true a person making $30,000 a month can buy less than USD$1000 ($937,5) at the official rate of $9,60 ($8 plus 20%).

Yes but from a government that not too long ago was approving as little as 15 bucks a day for a few weeks of travel abroad, approving 1000 bucks a month for everyone within that income level (and adjusted amounts according to their income for everyone else) seems like a big jump. They say their modelo has hit the target objectives, so now what, they're prepared to erase those "advances" they made in the economy these past few years?

Considering the average salary of less than $10,000 the purchases will amount to US$300 or less .!! or US$10 per day.

Another rational decision from a rational government.

How long will the new policy last, given that the foreign currency reserves are alleged to be not above US$ 30 billion?

Is part of the foreign currency reserves in fact IOUs between the national bank and the government, as in IOU 10 billion and YOM 10 billion so between us we have 20 billion to spend?

Most of AR's reserves are sitting in an account at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Switzerland, where no one can attach Argentina's assets. Cannot believe this savings deal is about some Argentine walking out of a bank with a fistful of dollars. I can buy into an electronic transfer to a timed saving account, but this cash thing. I do not know about that. We shall see.

According to Buenos Aires Herald today:

Capitanich: dollar hike won’t affect prices http://www.buenosair...t-affect-prices

If Kapitanovitch has been quoted correctly, the man is completely off his rocker.
Does he expect the extra pesos needed to cover the rising import prices, etc. to drop from the sky?
Come to think of it - he probably does.

His thinking is pretty clear: "we might need some extra Pesos, but I already have found a smart solution: we just print more money" :D

You don't understand. If an Argentine govt needs pesos, it simply prints them.
