Buquebus - beware

I travelled to Colonia by Buquebus last week in order to renew my tourist visa.
When I returned to the ship at Colonia late afternoon, I hit my head very hard on the top of the doorway as I went on board. I felt very dizzy and the staff kindly gave me some ice for the bruising. I rested for the entire journey.

I saw the First Officer of the ship and complained to him that there was no sign warning people of the height of the doorway nor a sign above the door. He agreed with me that there should be some warning notice and admitted that it had happened before. I completed a report stating what had taken place.

I was unable to work next day because I had a bad headache. I wrote to Buquebus by email and received a response from them ([email protected])
thanking me for my report and I quote "Your claim has been registered and the area will continue to improve for the benefit of the users", signed by Ana Kohlschreiber. There was no offer of either a refund or some form of compensation like a pair of tickets on Buquebus. This was a dangerous situation and highlights the appalling level of health and safety standards here in Argentina. This sort of thing would never happen in the UK or America.

Despite registering my disapproval of their response, I have not yet heard from them further.

Really?

If they had put a sign above the entryway, what makes you think you would have seen it, especially if you didn't notice the height of the entryway in the first place?

I guess I'm going to start demanding refunds when I hit my head entering the subway or inside the colectivo. I'm 6'4" (1.95m) tall -- it happens a lot.

obviously you haven't been here very long, you still try to apply european standards to argentina. that will wear off soon. BTW, argentina also is "america". (or did you mean the USA?)

Naturally Buquebus, like all upstanding Latam companies, is in the processing of auditing your employer to determine exactly the amount you should be compensated with.
As the only reliable carrier between Uruguay and Argentina, Buquebus understands the concept of repeat customer and they would dread to lose your business to the plethora of Cessnas and sailboats that constitute their competition.

Lol, These threads always make me chuckle.

Wait you need a sign to tell you a doorway isn't big enough for you, really ? It sounds like the staff was very polite and attentive when you bumped your head but now you're just trying to get something out of the situation. In Spanish it's called " tratando de sacar provecho de una situacion ". You didn't need to go to the hospital. You bumped your own head. And if you did im sure the doctor would have given you a couple aspirin and told you to go home.

I think you are not sure of your worth as a person. As most of us aren't.

well said. I hate the ridiculous claim culture that the rest of the world is succumbing to and I hope Argentina long continues to rely on people to be responsible for watching where they are walking. Don't be so ridiculous!:confused:
