Hi

Searched the site, but didn't find anything specifically about Christmas Eve and taxis. Will they operate in San Telmo, Barrio Norte, Recoleta or should we book one. Looking at a later time - after dinner.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thx.

For Christmas Eve I would book with a car service ahead of time for sure -- you'll be lucky if you can get one though.

If you can't find someone you can book ahead, you're best to go out somewhere within walking distance of your home. The city is dead

Christmas Day -- everything pretty much closed until about 8pm.

Oh should tell you, in Argentina Santa arrives at midnight, all the bells and sirens will go off then, followed by fireworks, and if you're in provincia like us, crazy people shooting off their guns.... best to watch from somewhat sheltered place.

After about 2am people younger people tend to leave the family home and go out to the boliches -- most are open from around 2/3am that night.

After around 1 or 2 AM, you will start to see taxis and buses again. On the 25th you should not have any problems finding taxis. Not much going on though, some cafes in tourist areas will be open even early in the morning. Other than the discos and clubs not much else open.

Well, don´t improvise, it will be difficult to find any kind of transportation until 4 am.
