This is a bit random but hopefully some of our super frequent flyers on here might know how to search. I need to head back to the US in January (or potentially as late as early February) to do some shopping. Since it's a shopping trip, destination is really not important:)

I know Jan is high season here b/c of summer vacation but unfortunately I basically only have a 1 month window from early Jan to very early Feb

Anyway, anyone have any suggestions for what the cheapest destination might be? Right now, I'm getting $1250 for r/t to Miami leaving 28th of Jan and returning the 2nd of FEb which isn't bad but maybe someone has other ideas? Like I said, dates (within that month range) and destination are unimportant. I would think I would probably stay 4 days or so but flexible on that as well.

Thanks all!

The other hub we fly out of is Dallas, also we sometimes fly with Lan.

why not play around with www.kayak.com

stick Ba - eze as your departure airport and try a few different destinations

Another thing to consider: I believe Amazon deducts sales tax with orders to Texas - but not to Florida.

Glasgowjohn - I've been playing with Kayak but thank you. I've tried the usual suspects, NY/NJ, DFW, Houston and Miami.

Awhile back someone suggested that departing from MVD is cheaper for international flights.

As a Florida resident, I don't think I ever paid sales tax by ordering through Amazon.... unless it's changed in the past year. (That would change if you're buying from a related merchant and not Amazon itself.)

Assuming you want to pay in Pesos, which limits what tricks one can do(not that there are many left that work from EZE) the options I come up from with a quick look are

1-22/1-28 to DFW for 5368 on Lan
1-28/2-6 to MIA for 5392 on UA via EWR
1-22/1-29 to EWR for 5833 on UA(also available on AA for just a few Pesos higher)
1-28/2-5 to SFO for 6067 on Ua (also available on AA for just a few Pesos higher)

Another option if you have a need or want to also go to Europe, is the UA fares to there allow a free stopover in the US so you could do:
1-27 EZE-CDG via EWR
2-3 CDG-EWR
2-9 EWR-EZE
For 7897 Pesos
You can substitute other European city's for just a little more.

One more thing to consider is if you intend to do a lot of shopping is the baggage allowance of each airline, most if not all US airlines only allow 1 50 lb free checked bag for non status passengers, I believe Lan still allows 2 for free, whereas I am allowed 3 70 lb bags for free on UA, and 2 50lb on AA, because of my 1K and Executive Platinum Status in the respective programs. Also if you have any friends that are Executive Platinum on AA, and they have any extra SWU certificates it is possible to upgrade from the lowest paid economy fare to business class with those, giving you 3 70lb bags for free:)

Also it is possible you may be better off waiting to buy a ticket, as travel ex Argentina may be down in January because of the currency restrictions, which may result in the fares coming down as we get closer to your desired departure dates, though there is risk in waiting of course.

EZE-EWR 1250 for last week in jan first week in feb.

The real money saver is paying in cash, though I think you know that.

Many thanks all, esp Greg! With 1250, if I pay in cash, it should work out to about 950 with paying here in pesos which seems best alternative all the way around and Miami will have good shopping. Newark is another option but I'd prefer to avoid the cold :)

ETA - I'm platinum on AA so we have the 2 checked bag free allowance which will make things easier. And I'll happily pay the xtra luggage charge for a 3rd for each of us, still saves us lots of money as compared to what things cost here.

Thanks again everyone!
