Ciccone Case: Lijo Judge Processed Vice-President Boudou

Where are the people that said that the US had much more independent justice than Argentina? isnt this case a clear evidence that justice is totally independent from big political power? were are that people? That the US is a serious country, that that could not happen in Argentina, that here the justice is totally cooptated by the politicians, that we re not serious and justice could never put politicians in jail, that only the US can do that because they have independent justice....
Come on, there were a bunch of you, not only one person!!

WHERE ARE THOSE PEOPLE?!?!?!

I believe Argentinean justice sometimes is slow and works, but should not be taken as a model to follow. It is not fair to blame somebody who does not trust it since there are many reasons to doubt, the message in the best of cases can be... It might work sometimes.

I never said argentine justice should be a model or something, its just that I m tired of reading here lots of people complaining comparing to their beloved US where things are so great. I just wanted to point that things could work here, that in a lot of ways Argentina is a more simple society, less nationalistic (thats a positive thing since we dont have wars unstoppably in the last 50 years or do not spend like Chile more in planes than in education)... yeah, corruption is rampant here, but it is also in the US, maybe not at a micro level, but that is changing for worse in the US, is a total decadent society, everyone knows that...
So maybe with this example they wont trash anymore Argentina, maybe they can realise that some things might work here, that justice exists. If you go to Ministerio del Trabajo you should know that 99% of the cases the justice go with the worker instead of with the company.... yes, justice might be slow, but if the Ks were that powerfull, and the justice so inexistant and corrupted, and if the politicians had the power to manipulate everything, this case should not existed. Just a reminder that not everything is wrong here.

This number doesn't support the theory of "fair" justice though, except you have some weird view of the world that all companies are per se evil and exploit workers while all workers are good souls...

You re right, but if someone talks of no justice at all, of corruption, etc, one suposedly thinks that they go with the more powerful, that judges can be bought and the company has of course more resources than the worker to do that...
The big fish in general loses here, and more with the current government.

Yes, but that's injustice too... It's like arguing about a fair coin and making a claim that a coin that always shows head is more fair than one that always shows tail.

if its justice or not we dont know it, we have to see each case, but we can talk of generalities, and in general, one might think that if justice is so corrupted, they should give the reason to the companies instead of the poor worker. Again, we should see each case, but it is rare than a simple worker has more resources or more chances to win a lawsuit with a corrupted justice than companies/corporations.

Maybe CFK and her gang are not showing signs of worry in this case because the judge is being ordered to play this out - to show that justice 'works' in Argentina - and then in the end Boudou will get off scot free on a technicality. If not he ll get a year or so in the clink and then will receive his very generous compensation upon leaving prison.

That's a fair point.
Alternatively, the judge in this case would not bend to intimidation.
