Cream Cheese For Frosting??

They have philly cream cheese in almost all of the large super markets. Have you checked coto?

How much is the Philadelphia cream cheese here?
I was looking at Finlandia but the 'queso procesada' written under the label turns me off!

The processing is a stabilizer like guar gum added to give more spreadability, stop the cheese from separating (cream from milk) and longer shelf-life. The ingredients on the Finlandia I have sitting in front of me are: Cheese (milk, cream, lactic (I assume whey) proteins, sorbic acid and then some ingredients that must be the stabilizers: INS 330, INS 331i, INS 202.

According to the Interwebs the ingredients in regular Philadelphia are:

KRAFT, PHILADELPHIA SOFT CREAM CHEESE

INGREDIENTS: Pasteurized Nonfat Milk, and Milkfat, Whey Protein Concentrate, Cheese Culture, Salt, Whey, Stabilizers (Xanthan Gum, and/or Carob Bean Gum, and/or Guar Gum). Sorbic Acid, as a preservative Vitamin A Palmitate.

After reading that, I'd probably go for the Finlandia! They sound pretty much the same thing if you ask me

And half the price. As someone already said, add a little sugar and vanilla... perfect frosting.

Thanks everyone, I will give the Finlandia a try. No Coto or Disco near me, unfortunately, but next time I'm near one will check for the Philadelphia.

I just have to say finlandia to me is like tile grout, so glutenous! So if it doesnt work as frosting be sure to keep it for secondary uses...

thanks for all the inspiration! i just baked some yummy carrot cake muffins and used the finlandia as the icing! turned out great:)

Philadelphia cheese is in most Coto and Disco supermarkets in Palermo and in the big Jumbo too.

Fahrenheit, don't you live in constitution? There is a coto about 2 blocks from the train station.

PhilipDT, yes techinically, but I am on the "nice" side of Constitution just 2 blocks from Monserrat (near Independencia subte) and my husband doesn't let me walk any further than San Juan!
