Effects Of A Default On Expats

Am I thinking too strange to wonder if Russia's and China's recent announcements related to Cuba and South America (particularly Argentina) is part of some kind of backdoor deal with Cristina to provide relief related to the holdouts and Griesa and all? The US's biggest upcoming rivals playing around in its backyard, making deals that no one else will, showing up Obama's statesmanship, etc? All this with little cost to them (who knows how long it will take or what kind of real benefit might come out of BRIC and the bank in the end - just words right now) to maybe cause the US government to pressure Griesa to make some kind of decision that could help Argentina?

The US has already issued an amicus curiae brief that, as Taos Turner of the WSJ's local office noted, was moral support unlikely to have any practical effect. That's about all the US govt can and will do.

Yes.

You are.

If Russia could would have made Cuba and Venezuela showplaces of progress, in Latam. Same case with China in Africa. China was here a few years ago and promised US$20 billion in projects that never materialized, during Nestor's Government

It's very fashionable to criticize Putin but a neutral look at the data since 1999 proves he did a good job for the Russian economy (remain indeed the issues of Human Rights, corruption –since it’s believe Putin owns something like 40 billion USD-, geopolitical issues –Crimea was in fact Russian since a long time, now the appetite for more territories must indeed be slowed down).

Since 1999:
-GDP has doubled
-Current account has become strongly positive (and for a long time to come)
-Inflation is back to normal levels
-Employment keeps increasing
-Public debt went from 90% to 10% of the GDP in 7 years only (wow!)
-Poverty level has diminished by 50%

Russian politics (mixing sovereignism & liberalism) proved to be efficient.

Things are not black & white, as always

And further more he rides horseback, bareback, and barechested. He skis. He flies jets. He races boats. If he wingsuits over Moscow I'm moving to Mother Russia.

If only my President had as much testosterone - and backbone! Unfortunately, it is his wife who wears the pants in that house ... and those are big pants! :)

Dick Cheney shot his own friend while "hunting," and refused to even apologize. Could that be the sort of backbone you're looking for?

I wish my President would have such authority

And Mr. Ras-Putin is managing to bringing in Auto plants investment along many other international mega investment into Russia. It even put China together and signed NG delivery from Siberia to Peking contract for a cool US$40 billion till year 2050! And he is headding the cargo shipping route business to lead merchant ships the passage through its Ice sea using Nuke powered ice crushing ships. Remember, he was very astute when in KGB and he is the best instigator and manipulator ! He is out of the G8 but now creating the new world order !
