Estancia Recommendation

Crowd-sourcing sites like Trip Advisor are questionable at best, fraudulent at worst. Better to read reviews by knowledgeable specialists.

I disagree. I've written reviews for several websites, often critical. I've never had a website fail to publish my review, exactly as its written. This leads me to believe that there are honest reviews on the websites. We just have to find them among the paid contributors.

Well he sure seems to know the difference between a semi rural hotel and an estancia.

He is also certainly entitled to his opinion.

Whether you chose to use his opinion is entirely up to you. It is also up to you to decide if he is an expert or not.

I will refrain from voicing my opinion.

I know quite a few Argentine estancias first-hand and, on the basis of my experience, I would never use Trip Advisor to make a decision on where to stay. Seek professional guidance instead.

My family enjoyed Puesto Viejo estancia in Cañuelas, about an hour away

Nothing is trustworthy on Trip Advisor, which is a scam where hotels and other businesses promote themselves without revealing it.

I have to take issue with that! I have some 70 reviews on Tripadvisor which I spend time on, enjoy doing, and don't get paid for. Several of my friends do the same. You can usually spot the fakes, so sure you have to pick thru the reviews.

We use www.mascotasok.com to reserve lodgings when travelling about. Served us well in the province, santa fe and cordoba.

Ps..off topic, but if anyone is ever travelling with a dog, or cat I guess, to Rosario I highly recommend Apart hotel CetroReal.

I will follow up on your slightly off-topic response and ask if Rosario is worth the trip for a long weekend (3 nights). Maybe we will just do that instead. Now, I am off to Tripadvisor to see what the non-experts think of Rosario!

I took my friends and family to Areco town and estancia and we liked it. I reviewed it on TripAdvisor as well. I find the website useful, but it is true that anyone can submit a review, and you need to look for reviews that are not total raves that sound like brochure copyright. Also competitors often submit reviews that trash their competition. Those reviews are often from people who do not post anything in their profile, and have only one or very few reviews to their credit.

We go to see our family there, I cant confess to being much of an expert! There are plenty of great places to go for a drink, and the atmosphere is open and friendly. They have built some new restaurants down by the riverside in old railroad warehouses which are worth a look. Sunday mornings are pleasant as they close off one of the main roads for traffic. You can find all manner of joggers , cyclists and rollerbladers as well as families out for a stroll with the dog. During the day, honestly no idea! We are either at someones house or at the local club in the pool. You have the national flag monument which is ok , nothing out of this world. I guess I am saying I like the atmosphere and the people, was never much of a sightseeing type. Hopefully one of the professionals can help you out with something more specific than a recommendation of the people and atmosphere! For what its worth the apart hotel i mentioned is great for the price.
