230 pesos, that's $16-$17 dollars, you can have a good lunch at a nice restaurant in US, maybe with a glass of vino. That just shows how food are not cheaper in Argentina. Quite often, you get inferior meals for the same $ amount.

Food in US restaurants can be pretty awful at times especially in big cities when they try to save money on labor and serve old food heated in microwave.

The USA is a big place- I am sure there are places where you can get lunch and wine for 17 dollars, and other places where Subway Sandwich and a coke are ten bucks. And there are certainly lots of places in Buenos Aires where you can get lunch for half that.
I agree the ethnic restaurants in BA are a disaster. Part of the problem being lack of imports and spices and Argie people trying to cook ethnic food.
But I have traveled all over South America and even in 2015, the ethnic food is a problem in South America, the continent. In fact food in BA is best in South America, after Peru.
