Female Gynecologist

Hi everyone... searching online for a good female gynecologist I came upon this page and forum and also went to see dr. rossi. I can only thank everyone who recommended her, because I thinks she´s fantastic. I´ve lived in many different countries in the past 10 years, and can happily say also here in BA I managed to find a gynecologist I feel completely comfortable with and cared for. She explains everything, listens, asks questions... just perfect. Her praxis rooms are friendly, warm and clean.
It´s worth going to her even if you live in another barrio.

just went to my first gyno appointment here in BsAs and it left much to be desired...

the weirdest part was that she sent me packing with the glass slide with my pap smear. Is that at all normal? Did I misunderstand something or is it possible that I have to carry around my pap smear and bring it to a lab?

Not normal, but yes, she probably wants you to submit it to a lab for analysis. Implied in this is that you'd also have to go back to the lab to pick it up and then bring it back to her to discuss the results.

I have found varying levels of this "do it yourself" attitude here. The best experience I have had was with Dra. Rossi (who has been mentioned many times in the thread--she's awesome) and she took care of all of that for me, and called me when it was ready. Definitely takes the headache out when the docs will do all that stuff for you.

My wife is a patient of Liliane - she has all conversations in Spanish just for the heck of learning new terminology so she can´t vouch for her English. The consulting rooms are the classic appt turned consultorio but Liliane is excellent and was a consumate professional in the birth of our son here 2 years ago.

Anyone recommend one who accepts Swiss Medical. English is a plus but not 100% necessary. Im considering Dra. Rossi (and paying out of pocket) but if anyone has a recommendation to go with my insurance; that would be great. Im very nervous as I have not been to a gynecologist since I was 15 (15 years ago, irresponsible I know).

Dra. Liliana Rossi has been my only gynecologist in BsAs for 11 years. I've told her that I recommended her on this forum. She has told me about all the English-speakers who are her patients as a result.

She will be on vacation from January 15 - February 15. Call her secretary Griselda or Margarita for an appointment. Office hours are Monday 14-20, Wednesday 11-20, and Friday 13-18hs. The address is Rosario 188 1-B Tel 4901 2475 She takes care of sending the PAP to the lab and has the results in three weeks. Your PAP includes a colposcopia (never had one in the USA), but it's routine with Dra. Rossi. Just had my annual this week.

The other recommendation I want to make is using CERIM for the examinations she orders. They are specialists in women's health and have all the latest equipment for mammograms, etc. Azcuenaga 970 Tel 4965 2500

bilateral mammogram - 400 pesos
vaginal sonogram - 150 pesos
breast sonogram 170 pesos
bone density 100 per area
You pick up the results in about five days and return with them for Dra. Rossi's review.

Hello ladies, does anyone know of a doctor specially trained to remove the contraceptive implant Implanon from my arm? I had it fitted in the UK, have since moved to Buenos Aires and need a trained doctor to get it out. Kinda nervous about the whole experience so a sympathetic doctor would be nice! I live in Belgrano.
