Female Gynecologist

I highly reccomend my doctor, Armando Cardahi.
He is an obstetrician and fertility specialist. He has an office in Pilar and Capital, and works with Suizo Argentino Maternity. He was the dr. Who did my c-section and he is very very good and nice. He also speaks good English and understands everything. As I was practicing my Spanish he preferred using English with me.
I am not sure where his office is in Capital but the address is Vicente Lopez 1857
Phone number is: 4801-0583

I have seen him since 3-4 months before becoming pregnant and now my son is a year old...i guess it's also time to go back for a check up...it's been almost a year!

Dra. Liliana Rossi is fabulous. I won't use any other gynecologist except her. It's bad it took me so many years to discover her. She even films your Pap with a camara inside so you can watch as she's working.

Went to Dra. Rossi for the first time last week and loved her just like everyone else! Thank you everyone for the recommendation and reviews. I was also happy to know she knew my old gyno (I had to change insurance plans because of my job), whom I can recommend if you are looking for Hospital Italiano: Dra. Carolina Ochoa.

Hi all, thanks everyone for your helpful comments in these threads. I'm looking into getting an IUD here in BA but am unsure where to start. Can anyone who has had one inserted here tell me about her experience? What was the process like? Did you go to a hospital or a gynecologist? I know that several women here have recommended Dr. Liliana Rossi, for example - would you recommend going to her or somewhere like Hospital Aleman? How much did it cost (I don't have insurance)? Are you happy with it? Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi Karis,

I can tell you that I wholeheartedly recommend going to Dra. Rossi over going to a generic person at Hospital Aleman. She's wonderful, and I didn't have insurance when I first started seeing her and she worked with me to find less expensive solutions.

I also just had an IUD placed and can tell you that the Mirena IUD here is not covered by insurance anyway and runs around $1700 pesos. The copper IUD (Not industria argentina) costs around $500-700.

I can tell you that before I had a baby getting an IUD put in was a pretty painful experience, but that after I adjusted it was great (I did have stronger cramps, but it was wonderful to never have to even think about birth control). I just had a baby in October and opted for the copper IUD second time around. It wasn't painful at all for insertion or adjustment, but they say it's easier to deal with closer to when you've had a baby as the cervix is still soft. Either way I say it's totally worth it. Dra. Rossi will help you find the best option for you--I wish I had a gyno like her in the States!

I do NOT recommend Liliana Rossi. We went to see her and she:

1. Did not recommend Folic acid which is known to be very good for the baby and prevent birth defects

2. She recommended a vaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks which can be harmful to the baby

There 2 other things she did which were not good.

I'm a medical doctor (although not in Obstetrics!)

She was very nice and friendly but I think she is not a great doctor.

I can vouch that Rossi recommended Folic acid to me and wrote out the prescription. If you knew about it and she didn't mention it, why didn't you ask? And by the way, if you were already pregnant when you went to her, the advantage folic acid could provide is pretty much out the window. Perhaps that's why? If you think the vaginal ultrasound is harmful, did you ask and what was her answer?

Dra. Liliana Rossi has been my only gynecologist in BsAs for 14 years.

A Canadian woman who read this thread wrote me on Monday about getting an appointment with Dra. Rossi. I talked with her secretary on Wednesday, and she has an appointment this Friday at noon (because an emergency slot was available in her schedule).

Make an appointment with her secretary Patricia.
Office hours are Monday 14-20, Wednesday 11-20, and Friday 13-18hs.
Rosario 188 1-B (near corner of Doblas in Caballito) Tel 4901 2475
If you don't get an answer after a few rings, try later. Patricia has to go to meet patients at the building entrance.

Consultation, colposcopy, and PAP with Dra. Rossi is 450 pesos for those without health plans.
